Having a "Few" site difficulties, hey FD!

Thank you for getting the site up again & hopefully all will remain well!

On the optimistic side, it's back.

FD....I contacted Hostgator to ask why OzPol went down.....this was while it was down.  Just received this response:

You'd have to be naive to believe that message from a center in India Aussie, there's no way they'd tell us the real reason for the shut down. Clear our our cookies ! yeah right

This shut down coincided with Turnbull's speech in Washington, our controllers are taking paranoia to greater heights

Yes I noticed the front page was still up and running but clicking a link in it ERROR DANGER WILL SMITH ERROR!

You can buy various services supposed to make the site more crash proof (ChangeLog etc.) Or simplify this site, I say no more.

I did and got a response....(of whatever value!)  Point is....I got a response.  How on Earth would they respond to a mere Member (like me) enquiry, and not that of you, the owner?

No idea. I'm pretty sure I got better service back in the days when I was only paying $10 per month for hosting.

How long did it take them to get back to you?

Even if you get a cheap and nasty hosting service based in the US, it's usually good at non-peak periods in the US, which roughly corresponds to peak periods here. Low maintenance too.

$10 per month is expensive. I'd steer clear of most Australian based hosting services. The ones I've tried are rip-offs.

I went through many $5 and $10 per month services in the early days. They all let me down eventually. Many decided they were not providing that service any more. The YaBB people seem to think I could get by paying about half what I do now, given the popularity of the forum, but the level of service I was getting was good. Or at least, it was good.

We had another forum episode yesterday at about 7:50 to 8pm.

I was trying to post a reply and it hung up when I pressed the post button. It finally posted at 8:07 but when I went to refresh it, it came up with the same server error page as happened previously.   

Has this site loaded very inconsistently this afternoon and evening.....or just here at my joint?

No problem now and none for the last several hours, but prior......it was very intermittent.  Quick.....then slow.....and on.
