Bavarian politician sends bus with refugees to Angela Merkel's office in German capital

An irate politician in the German state of Bavaria has sent a bus packed with 31 Syrian refugees to Chancellor Angela Merkel's office in protest against her liberal immigration policy.

Peter Dreier, head of the south-eastern town of Landshut, said his rural area was buckling under the strain of a mass influx that brought 1.1 million migrants to Germany last year.

Local citizens had told him "it's time we set a limit," Mr Dreier said.

"We are trying to help these people integrate. But that won't work if this year we face another wave of one million, or even more."

Calling the trip "an act of desperation," he said he had warned Ms Merkel about his plans in a phone call last October, and had announced it to her office on Wednesday.

The Syrians, escorted by police, arrived after a seven-hour journey to Ms Merkel's office where they were greeted by a large throng of media but no representatives of her Government.

Protesters gathered at the Chancellery building in Berlin, waving a German national flag and chanting "Merkel must go".

Obviously no one likes to see a bus driven over an old woman but when it prevents rape then maybe we should all hope that this happens, and soon.

And I don't deny that rape is a massive disgusting problem that needs to be dealt with.  But to politicise it and then try and smear a whole people on the actions of some is not how you deal with it.  You telling me that if your wife felt unsafe on the streets because of a serial rapist, to stop the problem you would typecast every male in the community and have them deported?  Or perhaps, being that you seem like a reasonable person, you would recognise that a male who believes he can rape does not equate to every male thinking they can rape. 

Perhaps, just perhaps, male Syrians are no different to other males. And rather than call for deportation for all, the better solution would be to find the perpetrators, punish them as the law requires, and then if there is community concern put policies in place that effectively ensure assimilation/integration.

Politicise is when one uses particular events to try and make their political point. Eg, rape occurred on New Year's Day by Syrians and thus that must mean all Syrians are rapists and we must deport all of them back to death.

And of course community needs to have a discussion, on how to avoid in the future. But what the rwnjs are doing is not a discussion but rather an attempt to get their bullsh1t to be accepted via intimidation, violence and general shouting.

But one thing I'll say is that of course crimes can go off the record, not all background checks will bring about absolutely every crime.  you will have an error rate, it's unavoidable in all circumstances. The question is whether banning all migration is the right mitigation.

i heard on the radio this morning that the crashing oil price  and commodity crisis in africa and the middle east could see another even bigger wave of migrants heading to europe.

It would seem inevitable that this will lead to the break up of the european union , a massive resurgence in nationalism and much civil unrest.

is it being proactive....no, it is being reactive .
does it have a plan for what it wants to be in the future...no it just seeks comfort.
there is a difference between leadership and management.
is europe taking everyone along on its "journey"?
clearly not , it is not constructing a win/win. these actions are deeply devisive
is there a sense of "positive teamwork"...no, europe seems to lunge from one crisis to the next.
is europe in an upward spiral or a downward spiral...one would suspect downward
does europe come from an "abundance" mindset or a "scarcity' mindset....increasingly it has gone into scarcity.

Is europe "surviving ' or "thriving"...it would seem surviving.

It needs a good old dose of positive psychology.
It can "awaken the giant within" but this wont happen without giving the power to the movers, shakers and innovators.

This is the secret to the USA and the reason the USA mindset is a better one.

It simply has an eternally optomistic mental frame.

"State" is a very real concept, and "leadership" is more then "managing" problems.
Citizens (like the horses in a herd..apologies...are in a state of chronic anxiety and insecurity) and require leadership.
