Title: Is the age of oil over ? Post by Sir lastnail on Jan 12th, 2016 at 1:54pm
Saudis factoring in a decline of oil revenue !! Adoption of Electric car technology in some countries. Setting fire to coal being displaced by renewables !!
We have a bright future to look forward to as this filth is being left in the ground where it belongs and only used when absolutely necessary ;) |

Never say never. They have recently made a single person drone that will go 20km without a recharge, and there are new batteries in production now that have 8 times the capacity per unit weight of Lithium ion batteries. The EM drive currently in the research stage offers propulsion-free travel. Never say never. we live in interesting times: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/153614-new-lithium-ion-battery-design-thats-2000-times-more-powerful-recharges-1000-times-faster Then there are 3D printed porous cathodes. |

Even if oil is replaced by clean energy for transport we will always need it.
Take away everything in your home that is made from oil and what are you left with....??? Chocolate rappers, condoms, computer hardware & software, vinyl, CD's, lighters any plastic etc etc all made from oil. |

The first firearms were no match for a half decent archer.
Yet once technology was applied (mainly through conflict) firearms left arrows behind. I suspect the same will apply to our energy industries. It needs the price of oil and coal to go much higher that's why they are so cheap at the moment. |
