Title: Keenan- Our laws help prevent Paris type attacks Post by Baronvonrort on Nov 24th, 2015 at 6:52pm Quote:
France has robust gun laws, the AK47's used by the terrorists were illegal. Our gun laws didn't stop the Lindt siege with a gun that had been outlawed since 1996 or the Parramatta shooter with his illegal never registered pistol. The 7.62x39 AK round is not really high powered, the Nato 7.63x51 has a longer case it holds more powder, if you run compressed loads in a 51mm case how will you fit that volume of powder in a 39mm case. Keenan is full of it. What do the Americans say Quote:
We are not allowed to have guns/knives/pepper sprays/mace/tasars or anything for self defence, according to the Washinton DC police chief that leaves run or hide,Leyonhjelm is right Howard turned us into a nation of victims with his 1996 laws. |

Good post.
Australian gun laws are designed to keep guns out of the hands of upstanding citizens whilst at the same time ensuring that our worst street criminals and Islamic terrorists are fully armed through their connections with the criminal underworld. I personally have been looking to buy a 9mm or .22 or .25 pistol for quite some time now for purely defensive reasons after an unsuccessful attempt by a thug to Home Invade me. |

Title: Re: Keenan- Our laws help prevent Paris type attacks Post by Yadda on Nov 24th, 2015 at 7:10pm I do not like Michael Keenan. I hope that Michael Keenan's constituents soon vote him out of his parliamentary 'seat'. And don't get me started on - Malcolm appeals-for-unity-and-mutual-respect Turnbull !! |

If you hope to go through legal channels forget about .22/.25 for defense and go with the larger calibers. If you ever shoot someone with a .25acp handgun and they find out about it they will probably beat you to death! If you hope to acquire something by less then legal means don't share it with anyone, even us anonymous strangers! |

I think you may have catch 22'd yourself Herbie If illegal guns are so easy to acquire why has it taken you such along time to get one? If illegal guns are hard to acquire then I guess you would have to say the guns laws work :) |

Tall words from the very people that are hired to stand tall & defend us, but except by accident, will never be there to defend you when your life, & the lives of your loved ones, are in their most dire jeopardy! >:( Government can not, nor ever could protect it's citizens from violent crime & the criminals that commit those crimes before passing gun control legislation, during the debate on the issue of gun control legislation, or after passing any gun control legislation. Government can write the laws, & can pass the laws, but government can't enforce the laws during the commission of a crime. The police, no matter how well equipped, & no matter how well intentioned, unless they are within earshot of you as a crime is being committed, the police can't protect you from being subject of a crime in progress, nor can they protect you from the criminal committing that crime. Being that neither Government, nor the police they legislate to employ, can protect you, it is up to you to provide for your own protection, & provide for your own security. Self-defense becomes your own personal responsibility when Government & law enforcement are unable to protect you, or safeguard your life & your property. Self-Defense is a Natural Right, a Right which no Government on earth has the right to take away!!! I own a gun, because a gun in my hand is better than having the entire police force on the phone. PS....Due to the increasing costs of ammunition, don't expect a warning shot. ;) |

Laws don't prevent terror, only guns prevent terror - isn't that obvious after all of those terror attacks on our soil?

Title: Keenan is full of crap!!! Post by Panther on Dec 19th, 2015 at 8:34am Phemanderac wrote on Dec 19th, 2015 at 7:47am:
Add in a ton of LUCK, because as you & I truly know, the law hasn't yet been devised that will keep a crazed individual or motivated criminal or from finding & getting access to a gun....the gun he is hell bent on using illegally. Some of the most restrictive gun laws on the planet didn't save the unarmed, innocent people, who were just enjoying life, in Paris, or San Bernardino. We should thank our lucky stars that we haven't seen those horrors here........yet. Our gun laws may make it more difficult for them to succeed, but they don't make it impossible ......excuse the pun.....by a long shot. :( Unfortunately, our luck will eventually run out through the passage of time, while we are getting closer & closer to a rude awakening. How will our lawmakers respond.....not by saving anyone at the scene when these crazed criminals are breaking the law, & killing innocent people, but by passing more laws for the police to enforce, that in the end can't be enforced. When all else eventually proves ineffective, it's not if, but when, Self-defense will become our own personal responsibility again.......when we come to realize that Government & law enforcement are unable to protect us, or safeguard our lives & your property. I pray for those that put all their faith & trust in the law, but on that fateful day it proved to not be enough, & they had to pay the ultimate price for their ill-begotten trust in a false security. :( :( |

The Police are under no obligation to protect individuals and if the nearest Policeman is busy with someones BS complaint taking up their time when a life is in danger that is the system.
How to call the Police... Not a True Story From the Meridian, Mississippi STAR George Phillips of Meridian Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said no. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available. George said "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. "Hello. I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now cause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up. Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed. One of the policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" |
