I think Monk is trying to play the mine is bigger than yours game. (Again...... he tried this once before)

How about we look at it another way, the Board with the least posts should be at the top to encourage more participation.

It was The Mechanic who initially suggested a re-ordering of boards.

An alternative—put the endless discussions about Islam at the bottom of the index, give other areas a bit more of a go.

Actually a far better improvement to the forum would be to change the "Newest 20 Board Topics" to A higher numer say 30 or 40.

As this forum is a very active one, Topics rapidly disappear off the Newest 20 list.

I actually played around with a YABB Boeard and I seem to recall that was an option available.

One does get used to the current structure and knows where to go. A quick scroll down to exactly where you want to go.

If it was to be restructured or even reordered, it should be done once and not changed for a long time. So then what happens if another subforum had a massive increase in posts, do we quickly reorder again.

Nothing worst than losing familiarity with a board structure IMO.

My point is, don't reorder at all unless it is to remain that way for a long period. We get used to a structure and order.

We all notice that 95% of the posts are yours so please don't consider fermentation to be soooo active in the context of a forum. It is very active in the context of a blog.

I think your point is more around the moderator (you) is very active in that subforum to boost interest and that deserves some consideration. Is that more your point.

As to previous suggestions, at PA, there are no longer half a dozen spambots a day logging on and posting. Another good suggestion of mine. The Admin that implemented my suggestion was Aussie, BTW.

The Mechanic first suggested re-ordering the boards. I think it is a good idea and so have raised the issue again.

I have asked why there is a button for board Mods to hide individual posts but the button doesn’t work. Is it a quirk of YABB or the way this board was set up or a conscious decision by FD? Well worth asking.

I also asked, OK can consider it a suggestion, if board Mods could ban a member from their board for a short period of time. This would then allow the byzantine way of having FD permanently ban a member to proceed.


I see no evidence I am going to flounce out. Sorry I am sure.
