Title: Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Post by John Smith on Nov 2nd, 2015 at 5:00pm
No-one knows for sure how many people in Australia are affected by foetal alcohol disorders.
Conservative estimates, based on overseas studies, put the number at around 500,000. That is more than Down syndrome, spina bifida and cerebral palsy sufferers combined. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-02/mothers-in-anguish-over-childrens-foetal-alcohol-disorders/6900562 Absolutely flabbergasted at the numbers ... in this day and age, after all the warning that are out there? For those older mums who were unaware of the dangers, I feel sorry ... they have to live with their guilt. For the younger mothers there is just no excuse. There are plenty of warnings out there. |

So potentially damaging a growing foetus for the mother's lifestyle's sake is not ok, but aborting it, for lifestyle's sake, is perfectly ok Smithy? :( :-/

How many bottles of spirit a day did your mother down to give birth to an a/hole like you Jack, so many that the doctor slapped her instead of you when you slithered out……

So this is why they put the 'no fat chicks' symbol on beer bottles these days.

For a moment there I thought you said Federal Alcohol Spectrum... as in which top shelf whiskey should a politician order at the Parliamentary bar..... phew... nearly had me there!
Seriously, in a desperate and despairing society for many - is it any wonder that women over-use alcohol and thus run the risk of threatening their unborns? We need a society built on hope - not on despair and abuse and subjugation of the 'lower classes'. Might I add that the current 'freedom' and 'equality' of women means they are just as entitled as any man to get blotto and behave irresponsibily... sorry - even more entitled..... since they are a protected species... not to be shot at and only sent overseas under strict protection. |

Apologies to Freediver here, but one of my characters in a book series is a freediver - a Japanese/American/Hawaiian pearl diver, who is caught on a wreck (muff diving on old wrecks - the mind boggles!) and suffers brain damage... as the brother of my principal character's lifetime love, he is accused by the authorities of aiding the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbour, when he was merely sitting and enjoying the morning sun and quiet...... and as a result the whole family is incarcerated... until my principal character arrives with his offsider and armed with near carte blanche from the emerging OSS.... at this time run by Secret Service agent Hannant Grey..... Mania Costel hates my writing... no taste or class there, I think.. I think I am highly imaginative in my fiction writing and skilled at building a story... Oh - and XXXX beer has the same result... look at Queensland.... John Harmony was sitting, in his semi-dazed mind state, on the warm docks overlooking the Fleet Anchorage at Pearl, taking in the warm sun and the gentle breezes of Pearl, and waiting with a childish thrill of pleasure for the bands to strike up on the battleships opposite, and the flags to wave on a gentle Sunday morning. He had escaped his big sister Kimiko's attention early today - he loved watching the big ships - and she didn't like him being out of her sight for too long... but the day was just too lovely to miss... and the bands were just beginning to play, the national anthem wafting across the harbour... He rose and saluted as the flag began to rise on the stanchion of the nearest battleship... and was amazed to see a fly-past of aircraft coming across the harbour.... the United States aircraft carriers must have flown off their aircraft before coming back to harbour from their exercise... and those planes were making a run to honour the ceremony of the flag raising! John was overjoyed in his simple way at this simple sight...... |
