me.. scared the bejeebers out of me..... the original still would I reckon... :D..

I have just read Alfred Hitchcock by peter ackroyd...seems Alfred didnt have any idea how the film would turn out..he basically used his own money...he was very good at picking the right music as well..

Me too cods. I think I probably did the Mr Bean thing with the jumper.

That Peter Ackroyd is a master biographer. I read his biography of Charles Dickens, just so full of detail.

24 years before Raven's time though he has seen it. it was enjoyable however failed to illicit the scared response.

You have to try and picture back in the day it was probably the most horrific thing to come to the screen.

Psycho was a bit before my time.  I think the scariest movie I saw when I was young was When a Stranger Calls.  It's the only time I can ever remember actually jumping in my seat.  It's probably quite lame now.

My oldest son's girlfriend is a screamer during scary movies.  For the life of me I cannot understand how people can actually be so scared that they scream during a movie.

I've seen them all vampires, werewolves, Jason, Halloween and psycho, etc etc.

The only movie that scared the bejesus out of me was the Exorcist.

The Greek freaked me out too...!!!

I was only a kid at the time when I saw it and we got in on our second go, got dressed up to look older.

After reading that 6 women fainted on the opening night in Sydney we were determined to get in one way or another.

Must admit it's a movie I don't care to see again, and if I do it will be during the day.

Ending up seeing something similar at the drive one night about a woman who was pregnant with Satan's child I have never been able to find out the title of this movie, I only saw it that once, that was scary too!!!!

that was good and scary but you knew what was happening.. at least had some idea....

.with Psycho you just werent prepared for any of it...Hitchcock was a master at that surprise..

cant say as anyone has come close to him .. most films today rely on sci fi.... not the same..

the Shining... however anything with Jack Nicholson in it was always going to be scary.

Who saw Psycho on first release?

Seen the movie but it was released in 1960 anyone who seen it would be at least 75 and probably older.

I didn't like it, the Bates family were nutters.

I recently watched the Evil Dead trilogy for the first time.  Not at all scary but good for a laugh.  Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi and (later) Robert Tapert who all worked together on Xena and Hercules made the first Evil Dead for next to nothing.

It has a cult following and I thought it might be a bit scary but it was truly hilarious.   ;D

I've known two women who had the ability to slowly become so totally concentrated and engrossed on what they were seeing on the television that you could stand right behind them and talk to them loudly and they wouldn't hear you.

Total immersion.

I probably saw it at a suburban cinema, so it may have been later than city release and I think I was a teenager.

The first time I saw it, the shower scene shocked me. It was 'cutting-edge' realistic horror at that time.

Years later I saw it again - and was shocked once more - but this time because it was so pathetically weak and amateurish.

In those days we looked at movies differently, we understood that the technology wasn't there and we added imagination as a major component.

People today do not look at movies like that.

Never actually seen it right through - just a piece of exploitationist crap if you ask me.  Dumb storyline.... and unbecoming of the director of Rear Window...  The Birds was even worse...
