Vic won't support changes to GST: Andrews :)
AAP July 15, 2015 The Australian VICTORIA will not support increasing the GST or broadening it to include food. :) PREMIER Daniel Andrews has hit back at a proposal by Treasurer Joe Hockey that would result in the states funding public hospitals. Mr Andrews will visit Sydney next week to meet with Prime Minister Tony Abbott, state premiers and chief ministers, for meetings he expects will be dominated by talk of broadening the GST. "Victoria will not support fundamental changes to the GST," Mr Andrews told ABC Radio 774 on Wednesday. "I'll be clear, we're not going to have it jacked up to 15 per cent and not on food either." Mr Andrews says he is open to discussing the introduction of the GST around the online economy and financial services. But he says any suggestion of the states contributing more towards schools and hospitals was out of the question, especially considering Victoria already wasn't getting its share. "Our taxes are building more hospitals and schools in other states than they are here in Victoria," he said. "There was supposed to be no (federal) cuts to those things, they are lies, and lies are not supposed to drive reform." Mr Hockey has ruled out any changes to the GST without unanimous agreement from all state and territory governments and bipartisan support in the federal parliament. |

Cancel the GST in entirety - free up the cashflow through the economy... keep unnecessary funding out of the hands of inflationary governments and their grandiose pet schemes and ideas ..... reduce costs of living and thus pressures on wages to go up... make Australia more 'competitive' (baap - buzz word)... create jobs and well-being for a greater number....
Stop The Taxes! (not 'strop the axes', Igor.. get a grip, man....) If the GST was the Messiah for the States and their economies (much as WorkChoices was the Golden Messiah for industrial relations and chopping down those wage trees that were growing too fast - LMAO) - why then is there this massive 'need' to privatise and conjoin infrastructure projects with 'private industry' - meaning politicians, their families and their mates etc - thus causing higher and higher costs virtually on a daily basis? |

And all taxpayers would be worse off and would not buy as much and business would suffer .... gambling would increase in the hope of The Big Win ... crime would rise....everything else would go up to match including wages and all costs of living... and we would, within three months, be back where we started only a lot worse off.
Dumb As.... (not the guy who wrote The Three Musketeers).... Cancel The GST! Why do so many find it so hard to see that raising costs of living has the direct effect of raising wages to suit... and it is just an endless merry-go-round with people falling off it all the time through no fault of their own? Raising taxes is the same as cutting wages, and that puts immediate pressure on wages to go up..... hello.... |

..or secede from the Union, raise his own taxes, and start the Civil War off... "We're marching through Victoria..." "Old Gough Whitlam lies a-mouldering in his grave, But his soul goes marching on..." "Ah wish ah was in Vic-sey, hooray, hooray"... "Why.. any southern gentleman can lick TEN Yankees!" "Indeed, but the South has only two cannon factories!" "What difference does that make to a gentleman, suh?" "I'm afraid it will make a lot of difference to a lot of Southern gentlemen!" "You, suh - are a COWARD!" "As you wish....." |

Ban the GST and that entire discussion dies a long-overdue death.... and governments of all sides will have to look to austerity in their profligate spending instead of relying on the good old taxpaying public to make up EVERY shortfall. |

A 10% rise to Average Jo and Joe, a 10% rise in sales to business instead of government, a 10% rise in living standard for pensioners and unemployed etc, same level of taxation recouped from income tax and sales taxes, reduction in pressure upward on incomes.... Win, Win, Win, Win, Win........
Bring On the Single Tax Regime....... Abolish The GST.... |

Why abolish the pension? It's not sucking the life out of everybody.. it is rather, contributing back into revenue via taxation at a higher rate than most and it sustains countless people. The pension is not causing higher costs of living etc - it is helping business by providing money for pensioners to spend.. etc... a 10% increase in pension would be a boost to business. |

The GST is the only part of that commitment that they haven't broken - yet. Unbelievable how keen the liberal supporter here are to see their party break all of their promises. These are the same people who spent 3 years crying about one supposedly broken promise. 6 Promises in 24 words all broken - has to be a record. |

Not true. The Victorian government will be working closely with the Federal government on addressing domestic violence. Victoria's got a Royal Commission underway to investigate the issue, and Abbott's put it on the national agenda. |
