.....different trend at each polar region? (wrt area of ice ocean ice >15%)

Where are the graphs showing changes in total polar ice volume/mass with time?

Good on you DRAH -

the ice is increasing as per the ice age predictions.

I think the dear Chimp owes us all an apology.

I still find it interesting to look at what many considered flawed tools such as sea ice extent because they are still data that beckon questions... for instance you can't try and workout the stratification thing from this graph because you aren't forced to give a rationale that involves it so it's all- more or less- good.

He's asking for volume you idiot :  ;D ;D

You can't just pretend area is volume..... forget the fact i posted him area graphs by accident (sorry chimp I'll try again  ;) ;))

Chimp,

Fig. 3.
(a) Global sea ice extent monthly deviations, January 1979–December 2013, calculated from the data plotted in Fig. 1 by subtracting from each individual month’s ice extent the average ice extent for that month over the years 1979–2013, along with the line of linear least squares fit through the data points and its slope and standard deviation. September data points are red (and enlarged); all others are black. The x-axis tick marks are at January of each year, and the year labels are centered at the middle of the year. (b) Yearly average global sea ice extents (1979–2013) and the line of linear least squares fit through the data points.

This is still area so... sorry- figure 2 was the one I was thinking of actually but this one is over the years so i posted it this one instead... but I think volume is difficult to come by to be honest....

probably wouldn't mind seeing the updated version of that graph as 2013 looked interesting, but as you say: it is ice extent so back thru the uncertainty loop we go  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

.. but as I say: it forces argument and thus pushes the method  :) :)

---> it's like what de bono said in the mechanism of mind- it is the imperfection of the system that gives it it's strength! Best second hand book I ever read(well, not all of it of course) : there were about 8 versions of it now I remember... everyone must have got half way through it like me... :D :D :D :D

Fig. 4.
(a) Monthly sea ice extent trends for the global sea ice cover over the period 1979–2013, with one-standard-deviation error bars. (b) Monthly sea ice extent trends for the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice covers over the period 1979–2013, with one-standard-deviation error bars.

..perhaps i could have just posted figure 4 instead and kept everything to low resolution so you don't have to zoom in and out all the time  ::) ::)

..but still: not volume but ice extent.... d'oH!!

thanks Copper - ice area (>15%) in the polar oceans can also be indications of break up of land ice and glaciers which is sliding into the water.

It's clear from the mass/volume trends that both polar regions are experiencing a general trend downwards as far as the amount of ice is concerned.

You need to excuse Jethro, he is still recovering from the Dr Sircus scandal and trying to avoid public scrutiny of his already shattered credibility and disclosure of several mental illnesses relating to flat earths and spiritual slavery.

Are you aware that Dr Sircus, the clown acupuncturist can cure cancer with ordinary kitchen grade Baking soda and bags of magnesium purchased from hardware stores?

...where are these mass/volume trends you are talking about coming from?

i did look him up on facebook yeh: why I don't know- goddamn curiosity I s'pose!

:D

Oh wait: i was looking for colloidal silver  ::) not funny- the bloke who taught me basic chemistry at Murdoch lost his mind and let his wife do the alternative thing and she died.

-->for completeness this is the one I was looking for. Sure it may be of limited value but less invaluable than one might think.... don' throw the baby out with the bath water as the task is actually compare and contrast which means the supply of rationale.

Bit of an art to science as I like to say....

Fig. 2.
Average annual cycles of Arctic, Antarctic, and global sea ice extents over the period 1979–2013, with one-standard-deviation bars plotted for each data point.

Jethro likes to quote Dr Sircus and his clown acts, as an authority on predicting mini-Ice Ages. Where you aware of that copper?

The other pass time that Jethro likes to dabble in is spiritual based slavery.

Are you aware copper, that the earth is in a mini-Age which commenced in 2014 and will end exactly 15 years later in the year 2029? Jethro has also predicted an additional mini-Age which commenced in 2015 and will cease in the year 2035 exactly 20 years later.

Two quasi parallel mini-Ages copper - not one but TWO mini-Ages - one running for 15 years and the other running for 20 years
