Much as it disgusts me and literally turns my stomach to read of such things by a 'man', I read this so as to ensure that I never lose track of the insanity that is so much part of our society these days.  FSS - some jerk-off kills a young girl in a park in Malbun, then embarks on a rape and bashing spree... and this guy lived there and ran free to kill.  Does anyone know why this happens?  I don't.

Two of the rapes occurred in the months before Ms Meagher’s murder in September 2012.

Justice was almost denied to Bayley’s traumatised victims after several media organisations breached the strict suppression orders restricting the reporting of his wicked history.

One breach — a report during Bayley’s first trial last year by Fairfax’s Clementine Ford — came as the jury were deliberating and forced the delay of the next two trials to March this year.

It also seriously impacted on the final rape trial, which involved a Dutch backpacker who refused to return to Australia to testify.

That trial concluded today after a jury returned a guilty verdict, finding Bayley attacked her in Balaclava on July 15, 2012.

The jury came to a majority verdict after deliberating for more than three days.

That woman gave a description of her attacker that looked remarkably like Bayley, but sadly police did not connect her rape to Bayley until after Ms Meagher’s murder.

The court heard that like Ms Meagher, the 27-year old was attacked on her way home after enjoying drinks out with her friends.

She only a short stroll from home when attacked.

The terrified woman was choked, bashed and raped before convincing Bayley to take her home to the share house she was staying at with other backpackers, where she escaped.

Although each of the three juries was told about Bayley’s conviction over the murder of Ms Meagher, none had any idea about the extent of his shocking criminal history.

Bayley’s legal team are likely to appeal the guilty verdicts on the basis the notorious killer was unable to get a fair trial due to the media firestorm following the murder of Ms Meagher.

His barrister, Saul Holt, had argued the point unsuccessfully last year before the commencement of the first trial.

The conclusion of the trials will see Bayley return to 23-hour lock down for the remainder of his sentence.

In Bayley’s first trial last year, he was found guilty of raping a woman 12 years before the murder of Ms Meagher.

His second trial was for raping a woman in St Kilda in 2012.

Bayley was remanded in custody and will return to court on May 27.

It happens because we dont have the death penalty. If this sub human was dealt with appropriately after his initial violent rape spree Jill Meagher would be alive. And thats what its all about, recognising that people like this are not the same version of humanity as us and that they should be put down the same as a rabid dog.

And yes, I would have no trouble pulling the trigger on this one, not with any degree of  happiness or similar but satisfaction in the service of humanity.

thats isnt quite true....I doubt anyone thinks as they commit a crime what the consequences are....

as it is Jill Meagher was his FIRST MURDER...

not many would get the death penalty for rape...

my question is.. was it appropriate that he was ever given BAIL...... well reading this... NO IT WASNT...

something is wrong with a system...that gives this man more rights than it appears to give innocent women going about their daily lives....

do we not have a right to some PROTECTION from the LAW..

No, it happens because he wasn't in gaol. No need to go stampeding towards the death penalty.

That's the problem, they release walking time bombs, like the late Dennis Ferguson.

Is Adrian Bayley a Freemason. That would explain much.

You have to wonder why average Joe Blow will cop remand for a much lesser charge, but someone with a proven history and a serious charge gets bail...

Isn't there enough money in it for the State - people get locked up for repeat driving offences.... repeat rapists walk around it seems...  the State gets no money from rapists etc, but it skins the traffic offender.

Another 10 years taking non-parole period to 43 years.

Be much easier to just drag the piece of crap out the back and put him down.

3.3 years for each rape, not much for destroying someones life is it, the court leniency continues, he should have raped the judge too while he was there, did you know that after all he did he can still theoretically get out again on parole one day.

News tonight said an extra eighteen years.... might as well have gone for life without...

Bayley should be put in with the general prison population -

that would considerably shorten his sentence.

Even crims don't like women killers & rapists.

Yes - a pecking order. 

Me mum used to live in her final days with an old-time bank robber in what I call her Bonnie and Clyde phase; SWMBO's family are related to Lennie MacPherson and her ma-in-law did HER Bonnie and Clyde time in old age with Stan The Man - his kind would drill Bayley in an instant and the cops would shake their heads and say they had no real suspects.... sorry 'bout that.
