Title: Camp Oven Recipes

Does anyone have any tried and true camp oven recipes?  I've googled a few but I'd love some more. We already know how to do a nice damper.

Kind of depends what you're looking for. If you can cook it in an oven, or slow on the stove top, you can cook it in a camp oven i.e. Stews, soups, chillies etc. Personally, we particularly like what we call cowboy chilli beans, camping or at home. Hella yum.

What do you mean by a camp oven?

In these you can do pot roasts, casseroles etc.  Like Ashlee said, basically anything you can do on a stove top.

If it is one of these folding camp ovens that sit on your gas burner you could cook virtually anything in it.

I used to make cakes on the camping gas burner in an omelette pan.  Fried scones or 'Puftaloons' were delicious too served with a small spreading of golden syrup.  They just cook in a frying pan on top of the burner.

It's the top one, Black Orchid.

Ashlee, do you have a recipe for the cowboy chilli beans?

Oh, thanks.

I have an account but have just used it for antique restoration examples and home decorating ideas. Didn't even think of recipes.

I haven't used my account for well over a year so I am grateful that this topic tweaked my memory.  I have found some great recipes there in the past.

I had forgotten my password but I have re-activated it now and can access all the great things I have tried and saved in the past.

I remember the BIL cooked a roast chicken dinner in his.

I think Dampers are OK as well.

Also stews etc

I think that one you have you (top picture) can also do spuds wrapped in foil cooked on the top  while the stew or whatever is cooking inside (lid has a raised edge)
