Title: Hung a New Door today... Post by The Mechanic on Feb 8th, 2015 at 4:32pm
I used an external door, but its basically in an internal area...
the door that I took off was a solid door.. its in my laundry area that leads out to my back room.. but I've been wanting to get a glass door in this area to let the natural light in... it's been ticking me off for years but now its done.. :) |

I got this door from Bunnings.. $157
used the old door handle and two door hinges - with one new hinge due to the extra weight.. the extra hinge $1.95 I also used gloss Varnish that I already had out in the shed.. so costs were kept down... I already have an Ozito Circular Saw which I used to trim the bottom off to size.. about 5mm... I also had to use the saw to shave off around 3 or 4mm down one side as it was a bit tight... the other tool I purchased today was a door aligning and hole saw kit.. just brilliant $28 2 x Hole Saws 1 x aligning tool that fits both 2" 3/8 and 2" 3/4 door holes 1 x template and routing tool for shaving out the locking plate area 1x template to chip out area for door hinge.. 1 x instructions I used flat hinges so I didn't have to notch out this hinge area.. :) |

it looks good but next time you should consider using a level before you screw it in ;)
look at the gap between the door and the jamb (hinge side) on the top right hand side of the door compared to the gap on the bottom right hand side ... it could just be the photo but it doesn't look straight to me. |

If it's like some of the places I've worked on (especially if it's an older place) the door is probably the only part of the room which actually is 'square'... |

the door is millimetre perfect..
its just the angle of the pic... im like kat... I luv natural light and it annoys me when the mrs shuts blinds around the house all of the time.. >:( I call her a vampire sometimes... ;) |
