This is why Shell is acting because it's investors demand a clear conscience.

Desertification?

'Deserts 'greening' from rising CO2'

That story doesn't even mention desert let alone desertification.

;) ;) It didn't have to: I was intimating desertification is why activist investors exist! The source I gave talked about activist investors!!

"..however there will be secondary effects that are likely to influence water availability, the carbon cycle, fire regimes and biodiversity, for example," Dr Donohue said.
"Ongoing research is required if we are to fully comprehend the potential extent and severity of such secondary effects."

..from lees very own source no less

Exactly. Find them, define them.

What influences will they be? All good, all bad or a mixture?

Running around screaming 'It's worse than we thought', isn't a solution.

At this point in time we just don't know. And to talk about severity and not benefits, is merely prognostication for the cause.

Edit: Are 'activist investors' necessarily knowledgeable? Or do they implicitly believe NASA, NOAA, without reading about their 'uncertainties'?

Greening of the desert is the antithesis of desertification, which is your headline.

You're a lost cause buddy: it doesn't matter if investors are knowledgeable or not- they have the cash and they have bought stocks in a public company and they have rights to do as they please with the powers they have codified in law. Do you want to change the law or something all of a sudden mr cry-baby ?  :o :o

Welcome to life buddy: don't you want to play anymore  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :'( :D :D ?

Yep. Ongoing research is required to determine if any or all secondary effects are harmful. The scientists can't just look at what they think are harmful.

' it doesn't matter if investors are knowledgeable or not- '

But I said 'activist' investors. But I think you did answer my query anyway. It is what I have long suspected - Activists do not understand the activity against which they rail. thank you. ttfn.

I didn't say they weren't knowledgeable: I just said it didn't matter because they bought stock and they can use the power it brings them how they see fit!

Most mining, oil and gas (MOG) companies are owned by the very people that want to financially enslave us in the name of saving the Earth from a problem that doesn't even exist.

So you'll find that most MOG companies have jumped on the gravy train that calls itself Anthropogenic Global Warming.

If all countries come on board the Carbon credits market will be worth about two trillion per annum.

Al Gore is already selling carbon credits.

BTW WTF are carbon credits, does this mean that you can still pollute as long as you PAY??!!!

OOPs I mean companies pass on the cost to the people.

That's how urgent Anthropogenic Global Warming is.

And how real the danger is.
