Title: We shouldn't even have a carbon tax Post by progressiveslol on Jul 6th, 2014 at 11:17am
We are not even in the top 20 emmiters and we are within the top 3 that take co2 out of the atmosphere.
Which idiot thought we should have a carbon tax. Not on the c02 top 20 emitters list We are third on the co2 sequestration list. We should be getting reparations from China or even Ethiopia Australia, pretty bloody quiet on the co2 emissions front http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/07/05/the-revenge-of-the-climate-reparations |

Gee Crowbait then what are you worried about we'll be out of coal soon and looking for alternatives for baseload power.
Nuclear perhaps eh. ;D |

No warming in almost two decades. Must be hard pushing the phony global warming lie when the evidence doesn't back up the alarmists, lol!!!

Brazil does more carbon sequestration than we do? But... but... I thought our carbon tax would result in all the goons running to Brazil for resources? ... ... what happened, "employed women are communists"boy?

Now there we agree on. I've long said that discussion of 'per capita' are nonsense and just used as cover for a program of government in imposing another tax while strutting the world stage and flashing their ecological credentials.
Australians may well use a slightly higher level of petrol - we're one mighty big and spread out country - but we nowhere near produce the massive infusion of pollution into the atmosphere that your cited countries and a few others do - though with the rising costs of power, more are burning wood for heat in winter.... |

To be fair, I think that process goes back a long way now (*bites - at least as far as the advent of the communist working women here* ;D) with successive governments of losers - ToJo are just making the same old mess of it.. business as usual. *** for many years I've argued that 'feminism' (LMAO) is nothing but an agglomeration of theoretical ideas formulated by little girlies with zero world experience.. I mean, fair crack of the whip - 'culture of rape' .. you SEE and HEAR of rapes occurring every day as a social control measure for women, who, in the main, are the ones who promote in their daughters the idea that they'll be raped? - of course not. So it is perfectly within the same theoretical parameters to consider that women who work are indeed communists or at the very least communist useful fools, based on the idea that they are the tools of international communism, which demands a form of equality that permits the unconstrained sway of the elite - as usual... hence the advocacy of elitism for women fits the bill pretty well...as a theory..... |

As it always be in some degree. Just because the lefties are immature and jump up and down, doesn't mean we have to follow them to shut them up. They can get f'ed and we will transition to another energy when and if we feel like it, not because you cry about it and not because of some BS pseudo science trying to force us in a certain way. Mother nature exposes you lot of liars. |

The future tariffs imposed by Europe, Asia and the USA will focus the public's mind on whats important here.
Abbotts short term political game playing will come back to bite this country and restarting the carbon pricing regime will be much more expensive than the one Abbott is going to scrap. Whether you agree with the effects of carbon pollution or not the rest of the world is going to adopt carbon pricing and those that dont will be hit with massive tariffs...thanks Tony you idiot |

While I believe that Global Warming is an undeniable fact I have no opinion on whether humanity is a causative factor. It would seem a reasonable supposition but not being knowledgeable enough I can't say either way.
What I do believe however is that any attempt, especially by us, to stop or slow GW is utterly futile, we're a minor player and any successes will be limited at best, and counter-productive to our society. We should instead be focusing our resources and efforts on preparing for the inevitable results of that Warming, the rising oceans and the wild weather events etc, anything else is a waste of time. |

No no, Mr Abbott wants to pay us all back by providing coal miners with the roads and infrastructure of the 21st century.
And thank heavens for that. |

If you look at the third graph. Melbourne and Sydney are red dots. Most of the south east coast is blue, but the tropical north with no industry, no population shows yellow banding.
I wonder what causes the warming there? It can't be AGW. |

Actually the industry is sourcing Australia's energy needs into the 21st century from varied sources - of which traditional coal and gas sourcing remain a major player and rightly so. The process of extraction has improved by 120% in regards ro energy source lost from point to delivery valve. The new process of fracking onshore for gas has added reserves well into the next 50 years of domestic consumption need satisfaction. Also we are now able to dive deeper in the ocean that ever before. We have increased the dive and drill ability in the last decade by a further half mile! The industry is also trying a process now where we can crack the surface of the earth underwater and place a pipeline running along this crack which will reduce all seepage. Given we are diving at such levels now we need to be able to handle potential mishaps. Then of course there are geo thermal delivery sourcing and other bio sourcing. The industry - as usual - is light years ahead of Governments. That carbon tax, as i expected, was a right royal waste of time. |

Fall in greenhouse gas emissions biggest in 24 years June 13, 2014 Peter Hannam Australia posted its biggest annual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 24 years of records in 2013 as the carbon tax helped drive a large drop in pollution from the electricity sector. The government’s climate policies have been in the spotlight as Prime Minister Tony Abbott headed to Washington this week, soon after President Barack Obama introduced the most ambitious emissions cuts in US history – forcing power plants to slash 2005-level emissions 30 per cent by 2030. Mr Abbott, forced to defend the government’s alternative policy to a carbon tax based on paying polluters to curb emissions, said he would avoid climate action that would “clobber the economy”. But Greens leader Christine Milne said: “The price on pollution is working and it is time Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Environment Minister Greg Hunt stopped lying to Australia and the world" http://www.smh.com.au/environment/climate-change/fall-in-greenhouse-gas-emissions-biggest-in-24-years-20140613-zs7be.html#ixzz36fnMQBnZ |

In my view a fixed carbon price is by far the best option.
Much superior to a trading scheme with its associated faults and the direct action plan is just a silly joke. So as Tony once said if you want to put a price on carbon why not a tax, though a fixed price is not really a tax in the way that Abbott meant. |

I can't believe that there are stupid people out there that actually believe that they will get some sort of savings or job creation from the repeal of the carbon tax.
You will not save one cent and unemployment will continue to raise. Before one of you FTARDS try telling my the job figures have improved in the last quarter have a good look at how many million labour hours ( that s paid hours of work for you dullards that don't understand the term) have been lost in that time. |
