-PUP will vote with the government to abolish carbon tax
-PUP will vote against abolition of the climate authority
-PUP will not support any changes to the RET before the next election
-PUP will vote against abolition of the clean energy finance corporation

Clive is taking revenge on the Mad Monk and the LNP as slowly and painfully as he can. ;) ;D

Dunno whether it is as simple as that.  He's let Abbott off the hook on the repeal of the carbon tax, but has adopted what is really ALP Policy on an ETS, and he will not allow the Climate Authority to be rubbed out.

It wedges Abbott on his commitment to Direct Action which Palmer won't support, neither will Labor, and I dunno about the Greens.

That sounds like good policy rather than revenge.

Wedges Abbott, which might concentrate the political debate, but will likely just extend corporate subsidy without achieving a meaningful outcome.

This is what Abbott should do. If he holds strong and puts his repeal in the senate, leaving the policy unmodified and it gets blocked again, he should go all the way to the next election and make it a pure and simple election on the carbon tax.

Live by the sword and get his mandate and numbers needed to do it on his own.

Are you suggesting he calls Palmers bluff on a DD, or are you suggesting he splits the legislation and holds onto the next election?

He should make it an agonizing long time until the next election, reminding people of all the other parties position on the carbon tax and only a big victory by the liberals will suffice. It will be a sweet victory.

Palmer is a frantic child. He is desperate for Parliament to throw him a lifeline and stop the Chinese taking everything has got! A process already well under way!

Each time the liberal and nationals say no to keeping the Chinese away from him he throws stomps his feet at at them.

Gets his photo in today's paper and is gone tomorrow. Only Palmer thinks he's a somebody.

ETS commences 1st July 2015. Already past the House and past the Senate.

Gore is not standing shoulder to shoulder with Palmer, he is taking his money to attend a function with him.

Gore appearances now comes part of his specials package for appearance.

'They' will meet down the Australia Club, shake hands, have a very expensive meal on some one's tax payer funded expense account, have drinks (ditto), and divvy up the corporate welfare (Direct Action), agree to pay some dodgy invoices into a LNP illegal slush fund, have drinks (ditto), have cigars (ditto), shake hands, and go home with a Big Woodie knowing that if they can shag Australia then they are virile enough to get laid tonight as well.

Incorrect. In limited voting block PUP holds the three needed votes. The odds of them ever being needed are highly unlikely!

Liberal/National Party               33
Australian Labor Party              25
Australian Greens                    10
Palmer United Party                   3
Democratic Labour Party            1
Nick Xenophon ..                       1
Liberal Democratic Party            1
Family First .                             1
Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party .. 1

That sounds like good policy rather than revenge.  Nope.  abbott was right, ordinarily a tax is easier to remove.  However Clive's policy is not as simple as it's been portrayed.  The detail being he wants it to be set at $0 until all other major "polluters" have such a scheme running themselves.

So, where does Abbott go from here.  It was his Policy taken to the election, that there will be Direct Action to replace the Carbon Tax.  Palmer has said 'nah' to that.

Wedged beautifully.  Over to you Mr Abbott.

It's not a wedge...  it's deliberate obstruction.  Against the majority will of the people.
Who the hell does Palmer and his party, who on a poofteenth percent of the vote think they are and have the right to do?

The majority of people did not elect a liberal majority in both houses.  This is how the cards have been dealt and pup has every right to bring forth their policies for debate.  Just like the senate has every right to review lower house legislation in the interest of their represented states.  I dunno about ur state, but I don't wish to see victoria pay direct action tax for other states with higher carbon intensive industries.

Only days before the 1st July, reality finally hits home.  I'll tell you what we think we are Grendel.  The Party which has yours by the gonads.  (It's like that bloke in the Dentist's chair with the Dentist hovering over him with the drill in  hand.  Bloke grabs the Dentist by the balls, and says....'We won't hurt each other, will we?)

If Labor and Greens stand against Abbott (and it seems they generally do) you will need to come cap in hand to us.

Eat it.

+1  ;).

And the Mad Monk's choice is to smile as he takes it in the butt from Clive or go back to the People in a DD.

Or the Mad Monk can 'return service' and come up with some other machination with the other parties. ;) :).

May you live in interesting times.  :)

We live in a time where the stalemate on key policies in the senate has every chance of resulting in an election next year.  The key for all parties is to remind Australians constantly about how tony has overstepped his mandates, and his clear lying on just about everything.

That is correct.  Abbott went on and on and on every day for three years about what he very effectively described as a Gillard lie on a single issue.....yet he seems to think he can lie on multiple issues and just bluff his way through as though no-one will notice.

Nah.

That's what you choose to play with?  Ok mr. "I think I understand mandates", tell me: did tony have a mandate to deregulate university fees, introduce a co payment for gp visits and make eligibility changes to the disability pension, and change payment increases on aged pensions?  What about the newstart changes?  Under 30 unemployment benefit changes?  Abbots point?
For a guy who believes so much in mandates, tony sure as hell forgot to obtain them for his true political agenda.

Easy, LNP politics in a nut shell.

Easy. You’ve just summed up a century of politics.

Would be interesting to see if labor, greens and PUP can agree on a true floating price ETS.
Tony would truly be left in the wilderness as his climate change policies would be left in complete tatters, and his support base continues to diminish.

Dunno whether it is as simple as that.  He's let Abbott off the hook on the repeal of the carbon tax, but has adopted what is really ALP Policy on an ETS, and he will not allow the Climate Authority to be rubbed out.  Actually it is all ALP Policy... remove carbon tax and adopt an ETS.  It is also Malcolm policy.

Incorrect. In limited voting block PUP holds the three needed votes. The odds of them ever being needed are highly unlikely!

Liberal/National Party               33
Australian Labor Party              25
Australian Greens                    10
Palmer United Party                   3
Democratic Labour Party            1
Nick Xenophon ..                       1
Liberal Democratic Party            1
Family First .                             1
Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party .. 1

If and only if the Greens and ALP oppose.

What you are missing is it isn't PUP holding the government to ransom, it is the ALP, Greens and PUP, who together got more votes in the senate.

They need the others to do this. Clive is actually conceding more than they are.

You'll notice PUP actually got 200K MORE votes than the Nationals & seeing as Liberals rely on National votes to actually win government ( you'll also notice the ALP has 180K more votes than the Liberal).
So what your saying is Labor should form government & Tony should have a coalition with PUP. ;D
