Title: Abbott worst PM in Australia history Post by The Wise One MBE on Jun 21st, 2014 at 7:46am According to recent news polling Tony Abbott is widely considered to be the worst sitting Australian Prime Minister. Many are not surprised by the result considered the recent media backlash over the budget, as well as number of scandals that the government is currently facing. The polling results were a clear landslide with 100% of respondents indicating Tony Abbott when asked “Who do you think is the worst Prime Minister currently leading the Australian Government”. Many expressed confusion at the question, as there was only a single answer possible however they still answered Tony Abbott. Many believe that this information is a damning indictment of a government which is completely out of touch with the people. A prominent critic of the government had the following to say Others were critical of the fact that the same poll found that Bill Shorten was considered to be the worst current Leader of the Opposition. An online commentator had the following to say When asked for comment the Office of the Prime Minster has said that Mr Abbott is not concerned with Polling results but that he is confident that once leaving office history will not remember him as the worst current sitting PM. www.cjaustralia.com/tony/tony-abbott-overhwhelmingly-considered-to-be-the-worst-sitting-australian-prime-minster/ Read more: http://beyond-australia.boards.net/thread/403/abbott-worst-minister-australia-history#ixzz35DaPt3xU |

Every time you mumble about accountancy ideas, Andrei - you show yourself for a fraud. I take it you're going to tell us the company you work for is NOT in deficit annually, but runs a mega-profit without any debt? And that the debt does not outweigh its annual income? You see - that's what it's about - the total debt out-weighing the annual or budget period income - not the repayments outweighing the annual income - and we all know that in politics and in business it'[s all in the accounting standards and labeling. Same as a house mortgage - while ever your debt outweighs your equity in the house - your account is in deficit - but that doesn't mean you are not keeping up the payments, and will not reach final payment day. Bring on cods to tell me how hard that is to understand.... and you may now respond with .. "No... just no.. that is wrong".... and leave us hanging waiting for your wisdom in a valid answer. |

Now - if we are going to argue about the level of borrowing - Wee Johnnie started the rot with his GST that forcibly borrowed from the Australian people massive amounts of money - and in doing so ruined the entire economic structure of the country through fiscal mismanagement on the grand scale.
Get back to me in twelve month's time when we see how much Wonderboy Joe borrows with his sky's the limit borrowing potential... and see if you hold him responsible.... But, of course, the whine will be "Oh - the other parties did this by not passing our vicious budget against the poor while protecting our rich mates, so our only solution was to borrow more than Labor ever did, and even though the figures on inflation and varying value of the dollar come into it for us, meaning it really costs less overall due to those factors and the dollar figure should not be viewed in isolation, we don't acknowledge it worked that way for them." Abbott worst PM in Australian history and Hockey the worst Treasurer. |

Rudd and Gillard both never finished a full term in office & Rudd was PM twice in those six years. If there is ever a situation where Abbott gets knifed (not stands down), then he may be considered a less than successful PM. But even then, he won't be up there with Rudd & Gillard as the worst. Keating is well ahead of Abbott as worst and Rudd/Gillard top the list.

I am just wondering when Abbott will be forced to stand down and if he will go willingly or put up a fight. I would love to see a Leader ship scuffle like Gillard Rudd. The only thing keeping him in as PM at the moment is his blind ignorance of how much the Australian people dispise him and the mob mentality of his own party.
Don't for one minute think that the likes of Malcom Turnbull and Julie Bishop are not concerned that his belligerence is not trashing the Coalition Brand and that they could indeed do a better job. I give him another year before the party comes to its senses and asks him to step aside. If he refuses I give the party another year before it faces electoral defeat and we are lumped with a shambolic Labor party again. Even so I bet the Australian people are looking back on Gillard and Rudd with tearful nostalgia and wishing they had not voted this party in. I knew that this would be the result of a Coalition government, I also knew that had Labor been retained the country would be facing bankruptcy by now. Either way damned if you do damned if you don't. It does not matter which one is in power they are both equally incompetent when it comes to running the nation. I think a 12 year old girl guides group could do a better job ! |

We've had media speculation about Abbott's leadership already, but IMO this is premature. It would take several months of sustained bad opinion polling before the backbenchers of the Liberal party started getting restless. Gillard weathered bad polling for more than two years and survived one spill before being defeated at another. It's reasonable to guess that Abbott will also hang on for some time if the polls remain bad for the Liberals. The real dilemmas for the Liberals are: (1) Do they change leader at all? They lambasted Labor for changing their leader twice in six years. For the Liberals to do the same at the drop of a few bad polls smacks of hypocrisy. (2) If a change is on the cards, do they move on Abbott sooner or later? Changing sooner would give a new leader more time to become established, a later change would give Abbott more time to repair his standing with the electorate. (3) Will Abbott step down willingly or must he be pushed? My guess - they won't make any move this year, hoping for better polls. I think they are pinning their hopes on the Royal Commission into union corruption in the hopes that they can find something to pin on Shorten - while also quietly hoping that ICAC doesn't reveal other matters of corruption that can be linked to Abbott or other senior Liberals. |

he shouldn't go down the route of trying to weasel out of it. people don't mind pain if you are honest. Just say, "this is your medicine, take it, its good for you" people will respect that. deep down they knew Rudd and Gillard and their reckless spending was unsustainable. What is unsustainable for tony is to try and PRETEND it wont hurt. Chemo always hurts, slashing out a cancer with sharp steel hurts. He's not going to get many of his budget measures through the Senate and it's his fault and the fault of his party. His party's 2014 budget was just a series of ambit claims anyway (as most budgets are in reality), but he hasn't recognised this. The only choices offered are take it or leave it. Where's the room for compromise? The Senate has every right to block measures that are broken promises (Abbott's Liberals did this in Opposition) and block measures that each party considers to be bad policy regardless of mandates (Abbott's Liberals also did this in Opposition). It is so good watching Abbott getting hoist by his own petard. Quote:

That is a lie. Excess spending was inherited from Howard and they spent several years cutting back on Howard's waste. Federal government spending as a percentage of GDP fell during Swan's tenure, and Swan was the first Treasurer since Keating to deliver a fall in government spending in raw dollar terms. To claim that Labor's spending was out of control is a barefaced lie. The budget problem is caused by falling revenue, not excess spending. We can fix by cutting back on tens of billions of dollars in unsustainable tax concessions. Quote:

Bullsht - all Hockey and Abbott has to do was repeat the "budget emergency" LIE 100 times and the public bought it. How much more convincing would it be to repeat the TRUTH of falling tax revenue 100 times. Quote:
He could have delivered one if he made these hard decisions (among others): * Abolish negative gearing (blatant rort) * Abolish or cap superannuation tax concessions (blatant rort) * Abolish tax concessions for the mining industry (reduce stimulation on a part of the economy that is least in need of it) * Abolish tax concessions for discretionary trusts (blatant rort) * Abolish private health insurance rebate (waste of money) * Reverse the tax cuts in Costello's last two budgets (permanent tax cuts paid for by temporary tax windfalls) Quote:
Do you know where the idea of a surplus budget being a good idea came from? The WHITLAM government. They were the first government that advocated this position. And they were the ONLY government since the Second World War that delivered a budget surplus in every year that they were in office. Quote:
While the Federal budget leaks 100 billion dollars a year in revenue due to wasteful and unsustainable tax concessions? As long as these are not axed, the budget will always be a turd. |

(continuing Abbott Crash Investigations)....
Investigators check maintenance and construction logs for the SuperBudget A2014 while they wait for the fires to burn down... and find that during the construction phase, input was included from several long term and even retired Budget technicians....though some of this advice was considered suspect, it was, however, only in an advisory capacity and was not binding on any facet of construction of the A2014... so investigators put that aside pending further investigation. They find some interesting records.. it seems that Captain Abbott had made certain specifications with regard to the A2014 BEFORE it was set in place and built.... and it seems that, even when he had a major hand in the process...... he later changed his mind ! Again, while this mystified investigators.. it gave no real signs as to why the A2014 had suddenly turned on its builders, including Captain Abbott, and crashed and burned..... they would need to look elsewhere..... Fortunately dedicated and Unionised firemen, working round the clock without penalty rates and armed with hoses and axes, had discovered the black boxes.. intact but affected by smoke and flames.... and there were concerns that the high temperatures from the uncontrolled burning of the PPL fuel in use had damaged them and made them unusable.... The black boxes are quickly rushed to the CSIRO, where a reduced staff following the Brain Drain, after finding someone still working there who knows how to open the black boxes, quickly find that the recordings are usable, though some historical data seemed to have disappeared completely. ASAFIB investigators settle down to study the content of the black boxes... replaying them over and over again. |
