Title: Bottled water is about to cause a tsunami ... Post by Laugh till you cry on Apr 22nd, 2014 at 1:49am
... a health tsunami.
Reverse osmosis and other water purification processes remove vital minerals from water which then causes a deficiency in the body. My first experience with the effects was in Asia many years ago where the workplace provided purified water and salt tablets to overcome the resultant cramps. Its now a generation since the population was conned into purified water in bottles and we will soon start the see the health effects. http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/nutrientschap12.pdf "... The possible adverse consequences of low mineral content water consumption are discussed in the following categories: • Direct effects on the intestinal mucous membrane, metabolism and mineral homeostasis or other body functions. • Little or no intake of calcium and magnesium from low-mineral water. • Low intake of other essential elements and microelements. • Loss of calcium, magnesium and other essential elements in prepared food. • Possible increased dietary intake of toxic metals ..." "... Sufficient evidence is now available to confirm the health consequences from drinking water deficient in calcium or magnesium. Many studies show that higher water magnesium is related to decreased risks for Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD) and especially for sudden death from CVD. This relationship has been independently described in epidemiological studies with different study designs, performed in different areas, different populations, and at different times. The consistent epidemiological observations are supported by the data from autopsy, clinical, and animal studies. Biological plausibility for a protective effect of magnesium is substantial, but the specificity is less evident due to the multifactorial aetiology of CVD. In addition to an increased risk of sudden death, it has been suggested that intake of water low in magnesium may be associated with a higher risk of motor neuronal disease, pregnancy disorders (so-called preeclampsia), sudden death in infants, and some types of cancer. Recent studies suggest that the intake of soft water, i.e. water low in calcium, is associated with a higher risk of fracture in children, certain neurodegenerative diseases, pre-term birth and low weight at birth and some types of cancer. Furthermore, the possible role of water calcium in the development of CVD cannot be excluded..." |

Most ppl drink bottled water when they are out and about not all the time @ home. I myself drink it when im travelling because you never know what can happen when you drink strange water. In some places you have to drink the purified stuff because the water in the tap is downright dangerous or nasty (summer in adelaide springs to mind). Seriously though how many ppl drink it @ home?

two things... there's so many chemicals in the water that comes out of the tap which is worse? LTYC.... this is not new news... all of the information is at your fingertips to access at any time... but most people are too stupid and wait for governments to tell them what to do rather than think for "themselves" ... ,,,,......................... I have a 7 stage reverse osmosis system under the sink of my home of which we use for our drinking water and for making beers... :) one of the final stages that the water goes through is that the water runs over a mineral stone... this is an important step for best quality... you should always be taking a multivitamin anyways to make sure you don't miss out on any vital minerals etc... you should also take fish oil tablets... for women, especially older ones.. Magnesium is of the utmost importance for absorption of Vitamin D and Calcium... one high quality magnesium a day.. Swiss is a good one... |

On 1 hand you are against the chemicals in water and on the other you are filling your body with unknown chemicals in the vitamin pills. Just get some organic food and eat normally and you will get the vitamins you need. We dont *need* that many vitamins every day - its the chemical manufacturers that tell us we do. IMO flouride does leech out your potassium though so make sure you eat some avocados or something.
