Title: Soo glad Labor is gone so this won't happen again! Post by Armchair_Politician on Apr 2nd, 2014 at 5:12am
ASYLUM seekers who have committed domestic violence offences in detention have been released into the community.
Immigration Ombudsman reports tabled in parliament also reveal an asylum seeker with a long criminal history was allowed to repeatedly see family members in Australian home visits. The cases emerged as refugee groups yesterday claimed tensions were rising at Sydney’s Villawood Detention Centre after some of the detainees were told they would have to be moved to other detention centres, including Curtin in Western Australia, while Villawood underwent renovations. In the first of two domestic violence cases in the past month, a 39-year-old asylum seeker who arrived in Australia by boat in November, 2010, was served with an interim intervention, preventing him living at the same address as his wife. He was later issued with a domestic violence order but was transferred to live with his family “under the condition he would not commit domestic violence” offences. The report said that in May last year the federal government agreed to lift the bar to allow the man to apply for a protection visa and he was subsequently granted a bridging visa without work rights and released into the community. In a second case, an asylum seeker, 33, allegedly demonstrated “aggressive and abusive behaviour” towards staff members on six occasions during the year to February last year. He had also been caught on film attacking his wife, an Australian resident, during a visit to Victoria’s Maribyrnong Detention Centre. “Later, he ‘apologised profusely’ for his actions and celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife at church on an escorted external visit,” the report said. Immigration Minister Scott Morrison’s office last night said individuals on day trips outside detention centres were accompanied by Serco guards, though this did not apply to those given bridging visas. “The safety and security of the community are a primary concern when individuals are assessed,” Mr Morrison’s spokeswoman said. In a third case, an asylum seeker, 38, who had drug, assault and theft convictions in his home country, arrived in Australia in 2005 and was given a special category visa. He was later charged with offences including drugs matters. Court matters relating to unlawful possession of weapons, bail breaches and forgery were pending during his immigration processing. The report said he was detained at Villawood in February, 2010, but was still awarded home visits to his pregnant partner and son in Australia on four occasions between March and May that year, though more recent attempts by him to organise home visits had been stopped. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/asylum-seeker-wife-bashers-released-into-the-community-immigration-ombudsman-reports-reveal/story-fni0xqrc-1226871559180 |

This happened on Labor's watch with the support of the Greens! No wonder more than 50,000 came on over 750 boats during Labor's six years of chaos and incompetence. Thankfully, they're gone now, the Greens are irrelevant and the boats have stopped! :)

You really do need to get your hand off it.
Your pathetic attempt to tar all asylum-seekers with the same brush and your equally pathetic attempt to blame Labor are so childish and transparent it's not funny Yu Libs are fracking pathetic!! You are grubs. Putrid fascist GRUBS I'll take asylum-seekers over ignorant, bigoted racists and fascists any day. There should be a zero-tolerance policy towards your attitude. |

I have NEVER said that ALL illegal immigrants are of questionable character. Not once have I said that. What I have said is that we do not know anything about these people thanks to their deliberate destruction of their passport and other forms of ID. We have no idea whether these people are rapists or thieves or convicted murderers any more than we know whether they are academics or doctors or electricians. Given this, I have always thought it was insanity in the extreme for Gillard to have permitted any of these people to live among us while their claim for asylum was processed. The result has been a number of rapes and assaults, including at least one murder that I vaguely recall a couple of years ago. There should be a zero tolerance attitude to the behaviour of these people: screw up just once and you're on the first plane out of here! The others would quickly learn that it's in their best interests to behave like a Saint from that point forward. |

No... First, you quoted an article from the dailytelegraph. And then directly underneath it, you wrote: Quote:
And then in response to a criticism, you wrote: Quote:
This is quiet a direct tarnish of a group of people. Otherwise, what is the purpose of your post, since the previous government had been gone for about 1 year. Look, this is not the Liberal way. One of the cornerstones of been a liberal is about support individual rights to freedom, speech, religion and assembly. You have a total of 3 cases in the article, and you are using it to say: Quote:
That is highly unfair to the individuals. How would you like it if others did the same thing to you? What would you feel if you are one of the 50000 who happens to be a doctor? |
The previous Labor government has not been gone for "about 1 year". Try just over six months! As for being unfair to the people on those boats - too bad. They've been warned not to come, for their own good. They've been told to apply through the proper channels. They refuse to heed those warnings. It's not a safe trip to make over that stretch of ocean and it's a miracle that Labor's policy "only" got 1,500 or so people killed instead of much more. No one in the government is denying them freedom of speech, religion or assembly. The government is simply putting its foot down and saying that they will decide who comes to this country, not people smugglers. Wow, you really need a reality check! :o |

Sure, if this is how you feel about them. And I guess, you are now happier? Quote:
But that is not what I was referring to in my post. I was saying that after you linked the article from the dailytelegraph, and then you went on to say: Quote:
And... Quote:
Your act of tarnish the asylum seekers based on reference of three individual is grossly unfair, and its not the liberal way. I was not referring to the government. |
interestingly you dont take offence to kats remarks about all libs???????..... as it is they all came in through the back door.... just as if they invaded your home through your back door.. I think you would ask a few questions before allowing them to take over your house...........or maybe not!!! if they barged in and said.. look we have paid a bloke up the road thousands to live in this house...and live here we are going to do... would that be OK with you? would it really?.. |

Kats remarks are wrong. However... 1) People like me can do more than enough to voice my opposition, and defend myself against generalizations. Whereas, the Asylum seekers who were locked up, do not have the same ability to. 2) I am fairly certain that Armchair Politician had already taken offence, and do more than enough to counter that argument. 3) No matter what Kat said, people like Armchair Politician and I will continue to live the same comfortable lives. However, if there are enough people who are out there tarnishing the Asylum seekers, then their lives would likely to be adversely effected. Quote:
They are not taking over. I failed to see how unarmed woman and children can 'take over' anything. I think, you are over-reacting. Besides, we were and are still asking questions - in fact locking them up for years as we do so. And now, they are not even allowed to come in. So what is your worry anyway? |

Oh,dear.....here we go again.
If the people involved weren't asylum seekers, AP wouldn't be interested. His obsession goes on. Sad, really. Sad and pathetic. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :) |

I would think it should concern everyone, given that Labor released these people into the community and would do so again if given the chance. Do you want rapists and paedophiles from abroad roaming the streets with no proof of who they are or where they are from? |
