Title: Union Thug Bill...
Post by True Blue... on Feb 17th, 2014 at 6:17pm
In 2004, Bill Shorten was a union leader who boasted he’d won SPC Ardmona cannery workers “a 13.5 per cent improvement in salary conditions” and “an extra eight days of leisure time”.

Wow! But SPC was so uncompetitive, it cut a third of its workforce

and has now demanded grants to stop it closing. :o

is there anything that the Union Thugs and Labor haven't buggered?

13.5 percent over 3 years.

4.5% per year.

Pretty standard stuff.

Actually, 'they' haven't 'buggered' anything.

As you'd be well aware if you weren't living in a parallel reality.

Yes they line their pockets and keep lots of people from being employed and then demand subsidies be paid by the tax payer.

greed cost the jobs of a third of it's workforce...

greed saw the company get sold...

greed saw the company go to the government like beggars aka Oliver Twist and ask for welfare...

can I have some more please...  :'(

standard stuff one says... ??

$15,000 a year for each employee (minimum) above award wages for the manufacturing industry...

standard wages and conditions?

you're dreaming buddy....  ::)

I told you yesterday that I don't bother to engage in debate with the terminally
ignorant or closed-minded. They are there to mock, nothing more.

Go and read some of my comments (both pro and con) to those from BOTH
'sides' who don't carry on like a smacking pelican at my every post.

Any dialogue between myself and, say, Bogarde, Big 'Ol or Andrei, for
example. Admittedly, we are old sparring-partners from the glory days of
the Yahoo politics forum, but still...

They are all political opposites to my good self, but all of us can agree to
disagree (or agree disagreeably?) without needing to abuse or denigrate
each-other. John Smith, OTOH, is similarly aligned politically, but we often
disagree on some subjects. Still it is done in a friendly and civil manner.

So, obviously, I am not the problem here....

There are many, from both 'sides' with whom an interesting and potentially
'educating' debate or discussion is both desirable and possible. Sadly, there
are some with whom this is not possible. Or beneficial.

You, my friend, are one of the latter.

So when the unions demand a wage rise of 4%, 5%, 6% a year and more days off, etc it's not their problem when the company is forced to give in to demands or else union members will go on strike, costing the company thousands in lost revenue? It's not the unions problem when the company, in an effort to remain competitive and profitable, lays off some of its workforce to cover the increased expenses related to these new wages/conditions? And it's certainly not the unions fault when that company just can't make a quid anymore and has to close altogether because its wages expenses have made the company unviable in the global market? You're the one living in an alternate reality...

That's right.

Nor is it the union's problem when companies pay huge bonuses to 'bad' CEOS etc. And nor
is it when companies syphon-off every dollar in profit and give it to (again) upper management
and parasitic 'shareholders' at the expense of the workers and the company.

But then, you'd approve of that because it's not the workers getting it.
