Title: Shorten backs Union corruption Post by Armchair_Politician on Feb 3rd, 2014 at 4:35am
Labor was yesterday forced to rally around leader Bill Shorten over the former union boss's refusal to back a royal commission into the union movement or the resurrection of the building industry watchdog, the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC).
Momentum continued to gather yesterday as the Abbott government talked up the seriousness of the "horrendous" allegations of kickbacks, bribery and death threats involving the CFMEU that emerged last week. Opposition frontbencher Penny Wong yesterday said some people involved in the scandal were "rotten apples" but insisted they needed to be investigated by police and the ABCC was not set up to investigate criminality. Is that why the Unions have a history of calling in Police to investigate corruption? ;D She denied suggestions Mr Shorten, a former boss of the Australian Workers' Union, had been wedged between his support for the CFMEU and its policies, such as opposing the ABCC on the leadership campaign trail, and the robust policy voters wanted. Yeah, right! ;D "I am absolutely sure nothing what Bill Shorten said and anything what the federal parliament party is saying would condone this sort of criminal activity," she said. "If you support the Labor movement, the last thing you want to see is this sort of behaviour." Shortens' actions - and those of the ALP in general - would definitely indicate otherwise!!! She added that she wanted to see the terms of reference before outlining her position. Employment Minister Eric Abetz said the government was treating the claims very seriously as it considered the scope of its judicial inquiry into union slush funds. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/federal-opposition-leader-bill-shorten-wont-back-an-inquiry-into-the-union-movement/story-fni0xqrc-1226816224740 |

I haven't liked any of the leaders from either of the major parties since the Fraser government. Labor does need someone better than Shorten to lead them unless he's brighter than he looks. Hopefully he might show more appeal when he gets the hang of his job.

It's the Labor party, you simpletons. Labor party. Think about it... L a b o r It's not the Management Party or The Business Party. But the Labor Party.... it has always had close ties with the labour movement and the unions - Hence the name - Labor Party. Okay, you idiots are probably confused by the fact that the party you cheer for is called the Liberal Party.... and it's a conservative party, not a liberal one. |

Mr Shorten has taken a few days off because he needs to change his soiled underwear. What's that brown stuff running down Shorten's leg? I named him Sh!ttin' when he was handed the job and I was on the money.

Bill Shorten is like a recalcitrant schoolboy who has suddenly been given the vice captain's cap.
He doesn't know what to do or say and what he does say has the substance of glad wrap. |

History lesson time............ The Tree of Knowledge was a tree in Barcaldine, Queensland, Australia, which was regarded as the birthplace of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). This was because the town was the headquarters of the 1891 Australian shearers' strike where policy and decisions were made.[1] It was a 200-year-old Corymbia aparrerinja ghost gum.[2] It is said that in 1891 a group of protesting sheep shearers founded the Australian Labor Party under the tree. Meeting records of shearers striking for better conditions show they were held at the main strike camp at the edge of the town on Lagoon Creek.[1] Non-union labour would arrive in the town by rail where they were met by the striking shearers. These impromptu meetings arose at a Cabbage Gum tree near the station where the strikers attempted to rally union members to their cause and block non-unionists.[1] In 1892, at the foot of the tree, the Manifesto of the Queensland Labour Party, a foundation document of the Australian Labor Party, was read out.[10] http://www.ask.com/wiki/Tree_of_Knowledge_(Australia)?o=2802&qsrc=999&ad=doubleDown&an=apn&ap=ask.com You're welcome...... ;) |

What wool is Peta Credlin trying to pull over our eyes, cods? After all, she is working under HER own name, and NOT her husbands...... --------------------- Peta Credlin was born to Len and Brenda Credlin in the small Victorian country town of Wycheproof. After working for several years on Patterson's staff, Credlin moved to become an advisor to Senator Richard Alston, the Minister for Communications in the Howard Government. She then left politics, and worked for three years as public relations manager for Racing Victoria. Tired of the commute between Melbourne and Canberra, where her husband Brian Loughnane was based, Credlin returned to her career as a political staffer, working for Senators Robert Hill and Helen Coonan. Brian Loughnane (born circa 1958), an Australian political campaign advisor, has been the Federal Director of the Liberal Party of Australia since February 2003. Loughnane is married to Peta Credlin, the Chief of Staff for Tony Abbott, the current Prime Minister of Australia. They married in December 2002 after the 2001 federal election where they worked together in the Victorian office of the Liberal Party in a move engineered by Senator Kay Patterson. :) |

I have no problem with a Royal Commission into unions that also addresses links to businesses and the ALP that are corrupt.....No Australian should accept the behaviour we have seen exposed and the corruption that lies beyond the reach of authorities we do not know about.....It is time to deal with those corrupt bastards across the board!!!
