The Government says the tribunal member erred in fact by finding Ali was told no halal meals were available to him and he therefore requested vegetarian meals. It said it triggered a chain of events that led to Ali being given a vegetarian "medical diet'' until January 22, 2009, when he requested a halal diet. Legal representatives for Ali and the Government have to provide their appeal material by February 17 and a decision will be made without a hearing. In 2000 Ali was found guilty of the gruesome 1998 murder of his newborn daughter while the baby's mother, Amanda Blackwell, 22, was found guilty of manslaughter. Blackwell, who had worked in Ali's halal butcher shop, became the married Ali's virtual "sex slave" and after she secretly gave birth at a Logan Village property Ali killed the baby. The baby girl suffered severe fractures, and after her death her right leg was severed, she had been cut in half and her reproductive organs removed. Last year the girl's grandmother said she had lost her only granddaughter and Ali should "rot in hell'' and receive nothing.

I think that the victim's family can lay claim to the compensation. If the guy needs his lamb chops Allahu Achbarred so that his stomach sits right with his God, then $6000 won't help him.

Send him a copy of "The God Delusion" as motivation not to be picky with his main source of protein. Probably doesn't need it. He might be the bitch of the bunk beds.

How butthurt can a butthurt guy get? In prison for killing a baby, and he wants to let the community know that he shows no remorse for his actions with petty complaints. Atleast Schapelle Corby knows that she has to trim her nails to get any action done. Even then, she has to settle for fish and rice, with treats paid for by her own family.

That is not what this is about.

The halal meat was available, but because of some administrative stuff up he was incorrectly told that it wasn't.

The issue here is not whether inmates should be provided with halal meat, its about whether he is entitled to compensation because he was led to believe halal meat was not available - when it really was.

Most Muslims don't have a problem eating non Halal meat if Halal is not available. I come across this issue all the time and the Muslims are satisfied if the meat they are eating contains no pork. This wanker is just playing it up for compo.

Allah wasn't worried about him chopping up his own baby, but boy would he be offended if Sheikh Mababychopping ate some non-halal steak!

A fundamental part of gaol is that you take what your are given. It won't be long before people are suing over their humans right being violated because they are being held against their will.

My point is that Islam and Western civilisation are incompatible, as they always have been.

The more Islamic you are, the more you are the in-principle enemy of everything Western civilisation stands for.
