Title: Four Rebels bikies arrested after hotel meeting Post by freediver on Dec 11th, 2013 at 7:25pm
This is getting ridiculous.
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/four-rebels-bikies-arrested-after-hotel-meeting/story-fnihsrf2-1226779689541 FIVE arrested Rebels bikies face up to six months mandatory jail for meeting up at the Yandina Pub. The men have been charged under the new anti-bikie legislation relating to three or more members together in a public place and are due to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Police have confirmed they were not in colours but would not confirm reports some of them were father and son. Police will allege they were spotted together in early November in the public bar section of the hotel but would not say if they were having a drink or eating a meal. Tip-offs from the public led to an investigation and today's arrest. Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen told media the men - aged between 30 and 56 - were regular customers of the pub on the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Det Insp Drinnen said the alleged gang members were not causing trouble at the pub but were being charged for associating with one another as members of a criminal motorcycle gang. They were arrested this morning after five warrants were issued at five separate properties as part of Taskforce Maxima. Det Inspector Drinnen said the group included senior members of the Rebels bikie gang and participants. "At this point we will allege there are a number of declared criminal motorcycle gang members who have associated together knowingly in a public place and committed an offence in regard to the legislation," he said. "While the legislation exists, we will be enforcing that legislation, while they continue to commit offences then they will be prosecuted in relation to that." He said the Rebels were still active despite closing down their clubhouse. "We've certainly got nothing to indicate their unlawful activity has ceased, we will continue to investigate those matters where they continue to commit crime and break the law. "While they continue to break the law we'll take affirmative action in relation to that and we'll be putting them before the court." Commander Detective Superintendent Mick Niland from Taskforce Maxima said he believed the community supported the action police were taking. "This sends a clear message to criminal motorcycle gang participants that police will take action on every occasion where we have evidence of offences under the new legislation or existing legislation, the Queensland Police Service will take action. "It's our mission within Taskforce Maxima to disrupt, dismantle and eliminate criminal motor cycle gang participants from Queensland. "Therefore we will take very opportunity to fulfil that mission." He said Crimestoppers had received 500 calls relating to CMGs since the new laws came into effect. Detective Superintendent Niland said police would be extending the VLAD laws to take enforcement action against any crime gang - not just CMGs. |

The danger signs inherent in this are only apparent to those who have an awareness of what constitutes free speech, and what represents a violation of it. In this instance (something easily overlooked) is that the bikers were literally only 'speaking'. Quote:
Mandatory sentencing for a specific crime that is a product of legislation enacted to expediate the process of government. Next step legislate the conviction process so that a courtroom trial is unnecessary (on the spot convictions). Quote:
Aussie, being the vindictive squealing type, would have jammed the police switchboards reporting this violation of QLD's anti-free-speech laws. Quote:
You bet they support it. If there is one thing an Aussie won't tolerate it is freedom. How dare the bikers distinguish themselves by wearing uniforms and associating with each other, to speak freely. Quote:
The real message is that we are putting the jackboots that were issued by Joh, back on. Quote:
Their mission will be to follow the rules of nature that say societies fall can be broken by fascistic government. And that a special task-force is necessary to implement these laws and orders. And eventually a permanent squad with its own distinct black uniform and peaked cap will be needed to instill the fear necessary to maintain that law and order, at minimal expense. Quote:
An ominous warning if ever there was one. Your ideology might be next on our list, is what he is saying. |

How can any Australian accept such morally wrong laws?
Police too dumb, lazy, or under resourced to catch criminals? Just declare whole groups as criminal, and arrest people at your convenience, despite the fact they were never actually caught doing anything wrong. Gotta love banana bender pollies, they still manage to surprise us with their ability to behave appallingly. |

Title: Re: Four Rebels bikies arrested after hotel meeting Post by ian on Dec 12th, 2013 at 10:50am
These people are self declared criminals and were consorting with each other. Its easy enough for them to avoid arrest, simply declare themselves no longer members of a self declared criminal organisatioin and hand in thier colours. Well done, the police doing their job are to be commended.
Lots of drama queens commenting on this subject. |

The police are obliged to act in the most efficient way that is legally possible. They don't make the laws (and is some instances relating to this have even objected to them). But those cops that show concern for the violation of human rights will soon be replaced by jackbooted psychopaths that will begin to gravitate up in the police force, as they do under all extreme right-wing governments . And if only these things could be confined to QLD. What we are seeing (I believe) is the emergence of something that is a manifestation of our past. Governments and people who are representative of the character groups in the novel Oliver Twist. The ruthless hash business types of 19th century England & the orphan class ( Aussie, orphaned from his muvva, England). If this is right, then it should be expected to spread. There will no mass resistance because the more formal 'Orstralian' of the past, who would have objected, is no longer a force due to natural attrition. Things don't look good. The only hope being a new political movement. |

That is exactly what they did. They were not wearing colours. They were just meeting some relatives at the pub, the same way they always did. Many of the gangs have officially disbanded. Yet these people have been declared criminals for the rest of their lives, without trial, and can now be arrested for meeting their own friends and relatives. What next from the spineless Newman apologists? The bikies have nothing to fear so long as they obey the law (by never going to a family reunion or party)? |

There is nothing new about criminal consorting laws, various australian states have had them since the 1920's. Western Australia brought them in in 1955 and agressively policed them. You drama queens can fling your hands about and get hysterical as you want but there is nothing new here. Its easy enough not to be caught up in the laws , just dont be a criminal. There, easy isnt it?

The article I read in the Australian said they were related. The online article suggested it also. I said nothing of their intention, which was probably to meet up and have a few beers, as they regularly do, according to the article. You may not be familiar with modern concepts of justice, but we use an idea called innocent until proven guilty. It should not be up to these people, or anyone else, to disprove that they had some kind of nefarious intent in meeting at the pub for a few beers. Our justice system has completely lost it's way, lead up the garden path by that Newman Nazi, if that approach is tolerated. Are Australians really gullible enough to discard freedom and justice in order to facilitate lazy policing? ian wrote on Dec 12th, 2013 at 2:21pm:
Hitler, Stalin, McCarthy etc were also very fond of them. If we had them in the past, that must mean they are perfectly acceptable, right? Perhaps we should also start taking Aborigines kids off them and sending them to the farms to work for nothing..... |

It never recovered from the Howard years, just deteriorated. Queensland did recover after Bjeilke-petersen, we had some good years, but we are slipping back to the bad old JB-P era with Newman. Queenslanders don't agree with the bikie laws Queenslanders not fooled by bikie crackdown says poll THE Queensland Government has failed to convince most Queenslanders of the threat posed by outlaw motorcycle gangs, according to an exclusive survey. But only a quarter believed the state's new anti-bikie laws were necessary, and 58% strongly disagreed with them. Forty-two per cent strongly disagreed with that idea, while 53% either disagreed or strongly disagreed that motorcycle gangs were behind major drug and crime operations. In a slap in the face for Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie, just 15% of respondents strongly agreed with his approach to law and order issues, and a further 9% agreed. By comparison, 54% of respondents strongly disagreed with his approach and another 13% disagreed with it. There was strong support for keeping the government and the judiciary separate, with 71% strongly supportive and another 19% agreeing. http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/Queenslanders-not-fooled-by-Bikie-crackdown-says-p/2085958/ |

HUMANS remember we have the power to change CLIMATE no one forces us to live and behave the way we do.. those that sit on a computer whingeing and complaining and doing little else are just as responsible as the bomb makers.. in my opinion.. Qld dont mind bikies running wild doing what they do best shooting each other and running the drugs and guns.. good luck to them..they are welcome.. as long as when it all starts happening in your street you dont ring the cops to come and fix it..because why are they going to fix something you claim they have every right to do.. I am happy for you I prefer bikies to live and work in Qld than to be here in ACT..we are just far enough away to know they wont even want to holiday here.. so alls good pansi you dont have any opposition from me thats for sure.. how are Qlds about paedophiles...??? We ALREADY had laws in place, laws that were made for all residents, not specific groups. Once in a blue moon we see a dozen or so bikies from a well known bikie gang, ride out to the beaches, not sure what they do, just have a chin wag and a fag and ride back somewhere....they are not a problem, never have been. Qld is not a lawless state overrun by bikies as Campbell Newman would have you believe. You are far more likely to be attacked by a drunk at a pub than a bikie. |

Yes. If these people are criminals, then they should have been locked up for the crimes they committed. If they were dealing drugs, they should be charged with that. If they were violent, then arrest them for being violent. The need to invent dangerous laws to catch criminals who can't be convicted for what they are actually doing wrong indicates that there is something very sick about our justice system. |

My mate was in the Rebels for a bit. His father is a high up in a NQ chapter. They don't like people who aren't white. Very white supremacist and militant but keep their activities out of the public. Bikie clubs are highly organised and becoming highly sophisticated. The days of a hairy smelly biker are gone. A work for a big company and a few of the big managers are bikies. That's why I think the government is threatened by them.

Oh - as a layman (what a bastard I am sometimes) - I also established that a police officer could not say that an accused was 'obviously intent on breaking/defying the law' - unless he/she could prove conspiracy.....
It seems Queensland has no trouble with such legal niceties.... just toss the Law books out the window and let The Guv rule as he/she likes on anyone..... That TF is WHY 'Common Law' was brought in - so that the Law was the same for everyone (in theory at least) across the entire country..... Same as on the subject of the arse-dumped ticket girl - unconstrained violence by the instruments of the State - including legislation that abrogates Law and is thus conspired violence against the community whilst in a position of servant (look it up - Scottish Law stipulates that theft as a servant caries double penalty) - is not acceptable - and must never become acceptable. |

See what happens when you get the courts offside Nazi Newman....it backfires on YOU lol!!!!! Thank goodness for common sense. Prison too tough for bikies, says Supreme Court Judge Justice Peter Applegarth A SUPREME Court Judge has labelled new jail measures for bikies "extremely harsh" and slashed time behind bars for three men to compensate. In three separate contempt judgments, he ruled the men would normally be jailed for five to six months - but gave them four to six weeks instead. Even the bikies' own lawyers initially did not dispute prosecution submissions that sentences of five to six months in jail were appropriate for the three men. However Justice Applegarth ordered the parties to return with new submissions which took into account the Government's bikie policies. "The harms of solitary confinement are evidenced in a large body of literature, including research dating back to the nineteenth century,'' Justice Applegarth found. http://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/prison-too-tough-for-bikies-says-supreme-court-judge-justice-peter-applegarth/story-fnii5v6w-1226784475595 |

Brothers For Life crime gang members have allegedly been shooting up Sydney and each other for the past week but after 10 arrests since last night, the core of the gang has been crushed. Police have also made a significant breakthrough this morning in the long unsolved murder of Yehya Amood at Greenacre in October 2012. Mr Amood, 27, was shot dead inside a car on Greenacre Road along with Brothers For Life member Bassam Hijazi, 32, who survived the attack and later fled to Lebanon. Hijazi later returned to Australia and has never cooperated with the investigation - he continues to walk with a limp and is currently facing charges of breaking into a Louis Vuitton store in Sydney's CBD earlier this year. Brothers For Life's Sydney leader Mohammed Hamzy, known as "Little Crazy", was arrested this morning and has been charged with murder and attempted murder in relation to the 2012 incident. In all, 10 members of the Brothers for Life gang have been arrested NSW police had another bust today.. so we can presume the gang will be soon moving north..to a Qld welcome mat I am sure..and good luck to you as well. ::) |

Despite the marginal improvement, it is double that of other states and equates to about $15,000 per person. Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mulherin said despite delivering two budgets, the LNP has no real plan apart from asset sales. http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/20376620/budget-review-to-show-qld-debt-worsening/ He might have to SELL the bikes. |

I rode motorcycles for many years, and still do, occasionally. In that time, I've known, and
called 'friend' several so-called 'outlaw' bikies. Yes, genuine, patch-holding colours-wearing 'bikies'. I even went to school with a couple. And guess what? Most (no, not all) of them were/are not criminals or law-breakers at all, and deplore the criminal element in their gangs/clubs giving them a bad name. Nor was I a criminal merely because I rode a motorcycle, wore leather and denim and occasionally associated/rode with some of these guys. But hey, I know you're going to stereotype away..... |

Title: Re: Four Rebels bikies arrested after hotel meeting Post by cods on Dec 21st, 2013 at 7:31am Joseph Antoun death by gunfire reveals ugly world of debt collecting and criminals MARK MORRI THE DAILY TELEGRAPH DECEMBER 21, 2013 12:00AM Joseph Antoun, who was killed at his Sydney home. Picture: Man shot dead in Sydney's inner westJoseph Antoun, who was killed at his Syd... WHEN debt collector Joseph Antoun opened the door of his Sydney home early this week and was shot five times, no one was surprised - except him. He lived in the dangerous world of debt collecting but thought his reputation and connections made him untouchable. He was obviously wrong and, just like his business associate Vasko Boskovski, he was executed by a professional hitman. Antoun's murder last Monday and Boskovski's in July has opened up a list of suspects that would fill the Entertainment Centre, as Sydney businessman Jim Byrnes quipped this week when told his protagonist Antoun was dead. Sydney criminal Joseph Antoun, who was shot and killed five times. Picture: Supplied It has also exposed a murky world where debt collecting is big business - and a shady one - especially when you deal in millions. Murdered Sydney businessman Michael McGurk was known as a violent standover man, albeit in a suit, who lived on the north shore and would buy debts confident he could recover them using his own brand of tactics. The most common practice was for commissions to be paid to those offering to collect the debt on behalf of the client. Respectable businesses have been known to use collection agencies who then employ less desirable types to get the money. Antoun dabbled in debt collection - and just generally ripping people off. He was a well-known thug with a criminal record but had recently taken to using the Brothers for Life gang to do his dirty work. Police confirmed their investigation into Antoun's murder includes Brothers for Life. "But there are a lot of other people who may have wanted him dead," they added. According to police, Antoun and Boskovki had links beyond the normal Sydney criminal milieu. "If you look deeper you will find connections to figures in the Melbourne underworld as well, especially with Antoun.'' Vasko Boskovski, who has been linked to Joseph Antoun. Picture: Facebook The lesser known Boskovski has been linked to a convicted Sydney Muslim terrorist. There is some speculation their murders are a result of their switch from employing Brothers for Life as muscle to another group linked to Muslim crime groups. Both gangs are well known to the Middle Eastern Crime Squad. The other theory doing the rounds of the Sydney underworld is Antoun and another of his associates had been hauled in to the NSW Crime Commission for questioning more than once over the past few months. Other crims get nervous when people like Antoun are under the glare of the all-powerful Crime Commission, who have the power to jail people simply for not answering questions. Many fellow criminals fear they are likely to cut a deal and give them up. That makes them a target to be silenced. The pair were known to be loving family men who lived fairly unpretentious lives in simple suburban Sydney homes. Sydney businessman Jim Byrnes has already told police he had been involved in a soured business deal with Antoun and named him as being behind a drive-by shooting of his home, vandalism of his offices and cars and assaults on his staff maybe all these gangs of thugs and gangsters will be migrating to safe haven Qld.. shortly... we can live in hope. |

Newman doesn't like his own bikie laws
http://au.news.yahoo.com/qld/a/20723322/qlds-top-cop-apologises-to-motorcyclist/?cmp=fb Queensland Premier Campbell Newman says he doesn't like his own government's tough anti-bikie laws. But he says they're necessary for now and must, by law, be reviewed within three years of their introduction. "The parliament has to look at these laws (within three years) and decide if they should still be there," Mr Newman told 4BC Radio on Monday. "I don't particularly like them. That may surprise you. I have said this to a few journalists and various editors ... I've said, 'I don't particularly like having to do this'." He said he was on record, in 2012, rejecting calls to follow NSW and ban bikies from wearing club colours. "What changed is a woman being shot in Robina while going about innocent business on a weekend," he said. "What changed for me was seeing the signs of a riot on the Gold Coast on a Friday night. What changed for me is what happened in Sydney airport where they hunted a guy down to kill him in the airport." The laws, which came into effect in October, have declared a number of bikie clubs as criminal gangs and include mandatory jail terms and increased penalties for bikie gang members and associates. They include a presumption against bail for alleged bikie members. The laws also give police greater powers to pull over and search suspected bikie members. Mr Newman says that since the crackdown began, armed robberies on the Gold Coast have almost halved. His comments came as footage of police intercepting a man who belongs to a social motorcycle club went viral. Jamie Edward Evans has posted online footage of police quizzing him about his clothes, associations, friends and line of work after he was pulled over at a Brisbane service station. He says he's been pulled over 21 times since the crackdown began, and there's nothing criminal about his membership of a social rider group called the Misfits. The footage has been viewed more than 246,000 times since it was posted on social media on Saturday. On Monday, Police Commissioner Ian Stewart again apologised if any recreational riders had been inconvenienced. But he said most people in the community supported the crackdown. Premier Campbell Newman said he had seen some of the video and he believed the officers were courteous and friendly. He said five police cars being called as back up is an operational matter. "These laws are directed at a number of designated criminal gangs," he said. He said they were declared criminal gangs based on information from the Australian Crime Commission, the Australian Federal Police and other agencies. "These criminal gangs are very well resourced and well-funded," he said. "Why? Because they sell drugs to our kids. "Honest Queenslanders have nothing to fear." Meanwhile, Mr Newman said during the Christmas period he was pulled over for a random breath test interstate. "The police officer instantly knew who I was and thought it was a great joke he had pulled over the Premier of Queensland," he said. "I've got no complaints. People are pulled over every day of the week." He said his reading was zero. |
