Title: National Day of Climate Action this Sunday
Post by # on Nov 13th, 2013 at 3:00pm
Let's see what those who are certain they know better make of this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R65WyZKfXxw

For years, our politicians have ignored a simple fact - the majority of Australians want more action on climate change.

It's time to come together and launch a summer of climate action on November 17.

Quote:
What my country is going through as a result of this extreme climate event is madness. The climate crisis is madness. We can stop this madness.

...

Hairs on end, tears, then a standing ovation.

That's the response chief negotiator for the Philippines, Yeb Sano, drew from the audience with his impassioned pleas for international cooperation on climate action at the UN climate talks in Warsaw yesterday.

After this week's super typhoon Haiyan, his country is once again in ruins. Already more than 10,000 people are feared dead, his country devastated. Haiyan comes only 11 months after lethal and catastrophic typhoon Bopha, in the wake of which Sano made his first poignant plea to the international community:

"If not us, then who? If not now, then when?"

I couldn't agree more and the same sentiment must be expressed to our own government, here in Australia, who are setting off on a reckless path that will not protect our future. It starts with you. It starts this Sunday. Will you step up?

...

Our government may have decided that in the face of our world's greatest challenge, now is not a good time to send a senior minister to UN climate negotiations for the fist time in 17 years. It might have determined that staying back to dismantle a price on pollution and investment in renewable energy is more important. It might have slashed or abolished the CSIRO, renewable energy targets and clean energy investment funds.

But it doesn't speak for us. It doesn't represent Australians. Just today GetUp released commissioned polling that clearly shows, again, that the clear majority of Australians support stronger climate action and want stronger emissions targets.

We know there's only one climate, our future. We won't sit back and let everything we've fought for be unravelled without a fight.

This Sunday, let's demand real, strong action on climate. Let's create the most diverse, visible and heartfelt display of support for climate action this country has ever seen.

Imagine hanging out with a mob of unwashed hippies whinging and bashing police.  No thanks.

Nope, Sunday I think I'll have a relaxing game of golf and a few chilled beers on the way around and a few more at the 19th hole.

Mind the golf cart is electric, so that's my bit for the day... ;D

"National Day of Climate Action this Sunday"

Can we hope that you will refrain from exhaling CO2 for the day?

It would save the planet. Honest.

If trees and plants could protest they would be out in the streets with signs saying "burn more fossil fuels now!", unfortunately for the trees though they can't make their presence felt and idiot Greenies are trying to stunt the trees growth and plunge the Earth into another ice age with their anti co2 stance.
The greens won't stop until we are all Eskimos.

I've never seen so many non sequiturs in a post before. Congratulations.

Let us know how that works out for you.

Meanwhile, news just in: you're going to die. No matter what you do, you can't escape this fact.  Moreover, your children and their children will die too.  Live your life, and stop worrying about things you have absolutely no control over.  You can't save the world, and you aren't better than anyone else.

Yet, according to the best science, we're causing the problem. If we have no control, how can that be?

The decent do "worry" about the future. It's one of the penalties of leaving childhood.

Pictures from the day. Apparently, about 60,000 turned up, despite inclement weather (rain or heat, depending on location).

It looks like the decent and concerned outnumber the wingnuts.

Not often a protest of 60,000 in crappy weather goes unreported by News Ltd's raft of papers.

Sounds fishy.

How many did the "ditch the witch" protests get ? A few lost pensioners wondering when the bingo was starting.
And that got front page after front page.

Is that 60,000 Australia wide, or 60,000 in one place??

There was a far bigger turnout of protestors on election day protesting about being roped into the crazy climate cult against our wishes.

Is that really all that the election was about?

No, they were also protesting about the ALP's middle eastern retiree relocation to Australia program.
