Why weren't these 5 recommendations implemented 40-50 years ago, then we may not be facing quite the amount of sh!t that we are facing now & which will continue, for the foreseeable future!

He said it would not rain for 40 years. And the cities would be underwater as the seas rose.

Oh, let's introduce a one-child policy for rich first world countries. Because successful people need not breed. And failed societies need to have rich, successful societies adopt the children of failed societies.</sarcasm>

How about third world societies get sterilised for the sake of avoiding overpopulation problems? -- much of which the third world people just run away from, or think the rest of the world is going to bail them out.

The first world is rightfully obligated to cease polluting the atmosphere and recycle as much waste as possible -- and to find ways to recycle the waste deemed unrecyclable. Then there is the problem of combatting overconsumption.

But let us not think that in 40 years time, in an ideal, pristine environment with zero pollution of any kind, and a non-existent third world society that we will see no global warming that can't be explained other than to say it is a natural warming event. I doubt we could see much more warming before 2052.

I see you have done a lot of reading to be so insightful into the Club of Rome.

I disagree with some of the point in the 5 point plan.

My thoughts on the 5 points.

1. Over Population

Introduce  virus that makes the whole world infertile.
Provide an antidote that anyone wanting  child has to pay $10,000 for.Those in the west who want kids can afford it. Only a small % in the third world will afford it.

So the DNA of the world population will return to some form of natural selection based on the parents having the means to support the children become educated addults and more than 1/2 a brain.

2. I am for banning of fossil fuel for general consumption.

Use it for specialist equipment and probably air flight only... for now. Not needed for ground travel.

3. The west solves the problem and licenses it for next to nothing to 3rd world as proposed

4. Short-termism is a real problem

There needs to be some way for us to have incentive to think and act in the long term interest of us as a species. Don't like a central institution so we need an alteratve.

5. We need to move away from growth, growth, growth ecconomics.

We do not have infinite resources and are not going to the stars any time soon.

its far too unpredictable....we go from one disaster to another....drought flood fire.....and still we havent mastered them... they win every time.....

its been freezing in ACT today    and tonight its worse....we had the sun out as well....didnt do a bit of good..

I think we have had a cold winter   not a lot of rain but some..

Rockhampton has been colder than usual. But not as cold as I remember during my youth. UnSubRocky has only shivered through a few weeks of cold weather, at most.

I have noticed that SEQ has not had much of a cold winter. But, my sister in St George has just had what I would consider the coldest winter there for a number of years. All of the interior SQ must have been having the most minimum temperatures below freezing more than any other year for a while.
