Title: I have to say it but it's shameful Post by Billy Jack on Sep 26th, 2013 at 9:56pm
It's shameful that a city as wealthy and large and growing as Brisbane town don't have no trams or subway system when other poorer, smaller cities do. Sure, they can build it. They just don't want to.
What do y'all think friends? I think it's crazy sauce. :D :D :D :D If you look up my site "Billy Jack Truth" on the Youtubes y'all will see my thoughts. I am very sorry but I couldn't post it here. Wouldn't even know how to. |

Maybe it is because Queensland is up to the gills in debt?

Yes friend but all them fine folks fresh off the boat from Bangladesh - surely they are good at building tunnels and tracks - so why couldn't we have a world class transit system here? Here's the video friend youtube.com/watch?v=BIiLNbFFpE8 |

Does Brisbane really need a subway system? Public transport is adequate, isn't it?

They spent 20 years of infrastructure budget on the Pacific Raceway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

They've constructed busways all over the city, and are still constructing them. Plus, there's a whole heap of routes that traverse the suburbs. Everywhere I've lived in Brisbane, I've only ever been a few minutes from a bus stop.

I'm hearing that the roads are crowded, buses delayed as a result and the services substandard. I agree friends. It's time we built a proper metro or had a proper system of transport. Trains every 5 minutes like any civilised world city.

Public transport and roads are packed during peak hours, I agree. Campbell built the tunnels to alleviate some of this. The buses and trains run more frequently during peak hours, but I don't see any need outside of peak hours. I often see buses with only half a dozen people on them, and also trains way less than half full.

Friend, you keep telling yourself that. Our transport is woeful by any standards. By the standards of the growth we have experienced in the last 20 years, it's worse than woeful. Small towns in Europe have services running every 5-8 minutes all day, and every 10-15 on weekends.
