Title: Boof Lehmann new cricket coach

Excellent move.

Watson back as opener, excellent move.

Clarke off selection panel, excellent move.

Why the bugger they needed to look outside OZ for a coach had me baffled.

Let’s hope we can get back to playing tough fair cricket like men and not naughty boys who forget their homework – with exception to D Warner who needs to pull his dam head in and make runs, let your bat do the talking moron.

8-)

It's a sign of desperation when you dump the coach two weeks before an Ashes series.

I reckon it's an overdue acknowledgement that Arthur's style and approach did not match that of the Australian Team.  I'll bet Lehmann will not be handing out written homework.

I think it was a good move.

There has been something wrong behind the scenes there ever since MA took over.

Go Shrek!!!

Absolutely.

It's shameful that an nonaussie should coach ANY national team.
Would NEVER happen if I was PM.

FriYAY was a poster,

His writing was sh#t,
For his brain didn't fit,
It was barely the size of a coaster.

Quote:
CHRIS Rogers will return from the wilderness and open the batting for Australia alongside Shane Watson for the first Ashes Test in Nottingham starting on July 10.
The definitive call from new coach Darren Lehmann leaves incumbent Ed Cowan in the dark about where he will bat in the line-up, if indeed he can survive the cut for Trent Bridge.

Lehmann announced before the opening tour match against Somerset that Watson would return to his favoured position at the top of the order, and now on the eve of their final tune-up against Worcestershire, he's also locked in veteran Rogers.

The 35-year-old left-hander hasn't played a Test since his debut against India in 2008, but has compiled nearly 20,000 first class runs and has a tremendous record in English county cricket.
Rogers admits he thought his chances of playing Test cricket had dried up.

“I'm naturally excited. It's a huge thrill. Anyone who has been selected doesn't want to be a one-Test wonder,” Rogers said.

“I had probably given up hope at times but I guess with the new selection committee and retirements of Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey it gave me a bit of hope that they would pick an older head.

“I can just enjoy it and really see that there is nothing to lose. I didn't expect this opportunity and hopefully I can play well. If that happens hopefully we can win a few games as well.”

Rogers has scored over 10,000 runs in county cricket and is the top run scorer in the top division this season with 790 runs at 65.83.

He believes experience has got him over the line, with the swinging Dukes ball a difficult beast to contain in English conditions.

“I think you need to get a real feel for it, particularly as an opening batsman,” he said.

never heard of him before, he's a bit old but has the right attitude and the 'runs on the board.'

Good selection.

I remember watching 'Superman' Lehmann
in the Hong Kong SUPER 8's
He was a natural 'attacking' batsman
as are most batsman of the short game,
...where you have to bowl defensively because
less runs are more important than wickets taken.

In Test Cricket,
the Bowler has 'all day' and thus can 'attack' more with his/her deliveries. They can 'afford' to have runs against them if it mean't taking a wicket!
Batsman were/are more 'defensive' in Cricket.
Even Bradman, poked 4's rather than smashed 6'ers !

The Short Game = attacking Batting / defensive Bowling
The Long Game = defensive Batting / attacking Bowling

...simple as Steve Waugh batting first on the toss, because Batsman come first in the line-up. It worked!

Lehmann failed miserably at Test level,
it was too slow and he wasn't good at 'defensive' stroke play.

I think they need to 'Specialise' Coaches and Teams in accordance to the 'type' of Cricket game.

I remeber Dirk Welham was superb at Shield type games, but at Test or International style and level ...it just wasn't his passion.

He'll fail the Test arena...
...just another chapter in the demise of OZ cricket for the next 20 years
::)

And 'Pup' Clarke is like Bradman. All onto himself 'as captain', and not the team. The Team serves him, he doesn't serve the Team - like Taylor/Waugh did.
...the 'Team' hated Bradman. Something OZ history doesn't like to discuss much. So welcome to the PUPpet Show peoples  ::) :P
