Governments love pokies, just like they love smokes and grog, not keen on drugs though as they don't get a cut from the misery that causes.

I don't disapprove of gambling, have a bet on the horses occasionally. This involves an element of skill.

But the porkies are mindless, sitting in front of a machine hour after hour, pushing buttons, then doing it again, and again.....

The payback from poker machines is only 89% where as
single zero roulette & also blackjack is 97% - far better odds.

It's not worth putting more than $20 in a poker machine once a year -  for fun.

pokies give some people a false sense of hope while in reality it takes away their hope ....

in some ways they are a bit like politicians, sound promising but they screw you in the end.

I agree, pokies are stupid.
Horse racing is where it is at.

Our relationship is progressing to the point that Friday night football will soon be changed to the 'Tom Waterhaus show', which will just be 4 straight hours with my smiling mug on the TV screen'. You can BET on it.
