Title: Black Caviar / lame Snowy Post by Emma Peel on Apr 14th, 2013 at 12:52am
A magnificent mare .. once again she showed 'm all her heels. :)
BUT a sad note ... I watched the race on 7 ... and only that race.. I love the beauty and inherent majesty and nobility of the horse.. but the racing industry?? not so much. Did you see that person, riding a crippled horse, interviewing the jockey?? on the way back to the stands... ?? in front of the viewing world, he rode this obviously lame and in pain horse ... oblivious... what was Seven thinking... ?? they should have stopped him straight away, not let this horse be ridden alongside Black Caviar, for at least 5 mins + .. 'cos some TV creeps can't think , well they sure fkdup bigtime. !! ratings ?? >:(. the prick was no horseman,... :( that was such sh*t ...!! ?? Turns out the lame horse was called Snowy... and the guy riding her, seemed totally oblivious to the fact that his mount was in a bad way. It was painful to watch that horse keep on going, hobbling,.. and even willing to go to a canter.... before someone had the good sense to pull the prick on Snowy aside... >:( >:( >:( Black Caviar was then escorted the rest of the way by another stewart on a fit horse. >:( .. it was pretty sad..people. |

I don't think they had the sense to stop the horse. The interview had ended and it was time for the clerk of the course to take over.

yes
which is why I asked ..what was Seven thinking.!! Are they blind as well as stupid.?? Later, due to concerned calls, they said Snowy was in good hands... the Vet on course. Bet you he was pissed off. |

When I heard people talking about the horse being lame, I was thinking that people may have been getting a bit precious.
I have never been able to spot a lame horse in my life, but that horse was hobbling like it had broken a leg. |

yeah... like it was broken...
It escapes me how people can be so blase about this sort of thing. Yeah you Getchen ! Yawn indeed. It is a representation, live and in the real, of the sort of attitude that seems to permeate so much human interaction with our fellow animals. What that tells me, Getchen, is that you have no thought or feelings for anything other than yourself... And the same can be said for those who allowed that horse to proceed. >:( I don't know if any one else has picked up on it, in the netscape.. but it shouldn't be completely ignored. |

I don't know.. I 'm not a punter or horsey, but have always loved horses... as a kid I dreamed of ... well... what kids do.
My interest is always engaged tho, when a horse like Black Caviar comes along. I love excellence .. but Horse Racing... no... it's a bit of a crook game ... ..not all of it .. but a couple of pet 'dislikes'... People who train and race two yr olds. !! I despise that... these animals aren't even half way mature, and are being exploited for the money.. Gai Waterhouse is the stand-out 2 yr old trainer, apparently. See how good she goes with older animals... Older animals..?? not many of them really are there?? How many of the 2 yr olds survive the hard Oz tracks to go on to glory.??? Not very f'n many.!! >:( Most of them 'd end up as horse meat, exported for human consumption. Now... hey ..people need to eat... but people who support racing also ought to understand the other sides of the business. :( |

In recent news, it has been revealed that a six year old female has given up a life of racing and gambling, to take up prostitution.

very sad ..very sad..
she should have raced for at least another yr.. imo.. not that it counts... but .. I would have set her for staying races... she has the ticker. Oh Well... money talks. Thing is, being a brood mare doesn't mean she's safe.. ..anything can happen. Good Luck Black Caviar. |
