Title: Crossfire Hurricane
Post by Emma Peel on Jan 9th, 2013 at 10:43pm
That was a good rocko docco....

I am compelled to agree,  that the Rolling Stones   ARE the very BEST ROCK and ROLL BAND the world will ever produce.

In my younger years I owned some of their work, on Vinyl...
Get Yer Yah Yah's Out .... Sticky Fingers....Exile on Main Street....GoatsHead Soup.. to name a few.

Then I got older...  and sort of moved on....  BUT  the program tonight reminded me of those times.....  sort of misty ..the nostalgia..  The eternal Keith Richards... the glue  for the Band... shows what seemingly impossible things a  person can do. Long life Keith. I love you.

..their utter brilliance at taking blues and rock and ... and becoming the most iconic Rock Band ever.

Vale Stones.  :) :)

Once upon of time I didn't put them at the Pinnacle... there were other Bands with lots of cred... Led Zep..for one..... BUT

NOW.... it is simply a TRUTH.

2am?
I started watching it at about 8:30pm. Where do you live?

Yeah it was a good doco. I really enjoyed it.
I remember my father seeing them on TV when they were about 40 and commenting on how silly they look still trying to do rock music.
They set a precedent there didn't they?

Yep, it was an excellent doco.  Good to see some footage of Mick Taylor too.

There's no doubt at all - they are the best rock n roll band in the world, and no front man can come close to Mick Jagger's performance today.

It started at 8:30pm Spot.  It was then repeated at 2:15am this morning.

I couldn't believe it when Keith said he didn't go to both of his parents funerals.  Also he didn't mention when he snorted some of his fathers ashes. I know that's true because I heard him talking about it in an interview a few years back. Long live Keith. :o :o :o :o :o

Technically he's not a band, so I guess he's "the very BEST ROCK and ROLL SOLO ARTIST the world will ever produce".

("artist"   ;D )

It's more common than you'd think.  I don't attend funerals, and certainly won't be having one when I'm gone.

Andy Warhol never attended funerals either.

And yes, Keith has admitted to snorting his father's ashes.  It's so "Keith"  :)

Ah.  Right you are.

Then what about 1 direction 1D?

Paying your respects to a dearly departed loved one by attending their funeral  is something  almost everybody on earth does. I couldn't live with myself if I missed a family member or close friends funeral. Andy Warhol would've been too busy buggering men, getting shot by lezzos  and painting soup tins to attend anything.

One certainly doesn't need to attend a formal funeral service in order to pay their respects to the recently departed.

I've paid my respects to every one of my deceased family members, friends and associates in my own way.

However, if funerals are what work for you then that's great.  It's a personal choice which I certainly respect.

Regarding Andy Warhol - cheap (juvenile) shot.

Excellent concert footage.

(apologies to 1D)

We can always rely on you to provide totally irrelevant information.  Thanks.

Back to the topic, and continuing on the 1D issue:

We’re not surprised that Jagger would want to “just check out” the phenemenon that is One Direction. After all, there have been rumors that band member Harry Styles is being considered to play him in a film about the Stones’ classic album, ‘Exile on Main Street.’

No!

My parents aren't having funerals (at their request) and I've made the same arrangements (or lack of) for myself.

However, if the ones I leave behind decide they want to give me one after all, that's their decision: it won't be my concern anymore.

Anyway, back to the subject of this thread again:

thanks for that GP.. :)

Kind of gives you goosebumps

I hope they don't make a movie about the Stones yet..  the story hasn't ended yet/... and those wee boys in 1D  ---  don't they just sing songs in a boyband???  no comparison is possible....

If the boyband is still making records in 10 yrs I'd be amazed...
No accounting for taste I guess.

That gig in the US  ...where the Hells Angels were 'security'  was stunning...  the Stones had no idea of the ramifications , of the consequences....  their depression was so evident as they left the venue...  they faced something they started, and couldn't control, and life was lost.

But they went on...as they must,  and still ARE the greatest Rock Band in the world.

My Mum currently rests on a cabinet in my lounge....  and I'm in no hurry to inter her... but the rest of the family had a fine time at a memorial , before she was cremated...
I was there, but found it really hard to stomach the lies my 'professional funeral celebrant' older sister told...
to cover herself  --- the bitch. >:(
