Well since there is over 150 million Kms of copper phone line (which I'm guessing is what the thread title refers to), and the mantenance cost is $1 million dollars per year......or 0.0064c per km/year.....Sounds like a good deal to me.. :D :D :D :D :D :D |

I just got back from the UK. Did you know that the "bronze" coins in the UK are actually copper plated steel nowadays? - and the newer "silver" coins of lower denomination are nickel plated steel. I wondered why the coins were sticking to the magnetic clasp on my phone cover. Very bizarre.
Maybe they could use copper plated steel for transmission lines. The current is mostly along the outside surface of a conductor. |
