Its not welfare that is unsustainable, its the system in which it is delivered by.
It doesn't matter if your spending it on welfare, health, infrastructure or golden turds, a debt driven system is unsustainable.

The day or reckoning could of been here years ago so who knows.

The flaws inherent to both capitalism and democracy intersect, to create a 'perfect storm' to which there is no easy fix.
Obama pledged "change" ostensibly against Wall street style capitalism, but in practice just hastened the demise by buying votes with welfare.  Romney appears to be taking the opposite tack - winding back welfare dependency, in favour of more robber-baron capitalists.
No matter who they choose the result is the same.

Its not like welfare is a choice over there tho for the majority, jobs are as rare as white whales. And even if you get one you probably won't have it for long.

it (america) has created its own form of "prosperity christianity" where your wealth is a sign of god's blessing.
its probably a heresy on biblical terms but people do twist their "religious texts" to say whatever fits their own purposes.
this , sort of, goes against the idea of having religious texts in the first place :) :)

this form of christianity seems to be practiced by brian whoever he is from hillsong church who has been able to accuumulate wealth outside the sphere of secular taxation by claiming religious status.

the dalai llama does live very frugally and some orders of nuns also live according to the vow of poverty but these may not be as appealing as "prosperity christianity' where you can have your cake, eat it too AND feel superior. very sad.
