Supporting the rights of minorities is not the same as agreeing with everyone from that particular minority group.

I am familiar with the hard right conservative's view of gays, but I fail to see how this gives the left a free pass to denigrate them. What comes to light here is what always comes to light when you scratch the surface of a lefty, an intolerance of anyone who has an opposing view.

Can you point to an instance where an apparent "Rightie" has said of OK I'm wrong your view is correct, or even I see your point but disagree?

Whereas the left love to sprout slogans like 'tolerance,' 'equality' and the like, but that's the furthest thing from their minds. It's really only tolerance for those that think like them.

Everyone is intolerant of some things. What's important here is who is honest about it.

An actual comment was made on this subject last week, if I could remember where I heard it I'd link, but I cant so you'll just have to take my word at face value.

The discussion was on schools & it was pointed out in the 80's girls scored lower marks in maths/science & HSC in general, so a government intuitive was introduced & sure enough girls NOW outscore boys.
Notice no outcry demanding action for boys education, lucky to get a MEH.
Boys are now seen more as disruptions that need to be medicated rather than their needs nurtured and learning fostered.

I don't know about Abbott. I know his personal views on gays, but whether his political views are different, I don't know.
There are always exceptions to the conservative-honest/left-dishonest categorization, however, mostly that is the rule.

I always thought it was meant for cases where it was literally true. Like for some predatory insects and arthropods where the main goal of the smaller male is to get eaten afterwards instead of before mating.

It is literally true, whether we talk about praying mantis, spiders or humans.  Kipling refrred to several species when he wrote the poem.

That human females don't (usually)kill by their own hand, but rather use male proxies for their violence, doesn't make them any less deadly.  Quite the opposite - When the consequences of their choices and actions are brought home to bear, they can clutch at their pearls and exclaim 'oh my look what these horrible men have done' and move on, only for the cycle to repeat itself all over again, ad nauseum.
