Today we see the FWA recommending a "cooling off period" for GROCON and the Unions.

What this mean is

(1) Union call off the strike

(2) GROCON suspend all legal action


The Unions are now having a dig at GROCON for not listening to the FWA.

Hang on.

The only reason why GROCON is taking legal action is because the strike by UNION is illegal.

The strike was deemed illegal by the courts.

Therefore GROCON has every right to sue the UNION for damages.

Why do we need the FWA to tell GROCON to stop suing??!!!

The anti strike legislation is untested and in my view it is unconstitutional attacking basic rights of economic self defense...If anything, workers are in the upper hand position to launch class legal action against business and the commonwealth for breach of faith to industrial peace agreements stretching back to the 1980's...Industrial peace was conditional on all parties playing their part..,.only one party did..the workers, and they got screwed... 8-) 8-)

The only defence workers have is the ability to withdraw their labour.

Laws preventing this are a joke.

There are no laws preventing managment from triggering industrial disputes.

For a strike to be effective it has to be illegal haha. Well thing is this is going to be used to try to get rid of unions. Everyone seems to want to get rid of unions nowadays. Thing is these younguns dont know why unions were formed in the first place. There is a good reason for unions to exist.

The unions have their bad points, and quite a few to be honest, but people won't realise how much good they do until they're gone.

Just imagine the employer having ALL the power to treat their staff any way they want? True some will be fair, but capitalism and greed being the major driver of industry, most workers will suffer.

I'm damn glad I won't be working when it goes back to those days, and I feel sorry for future generations who will have to fight for their rights all over again.

As bad as they are, we need the unions.
