At least they are making a start with clean energy, the costs always fall with time. Even if it turns out to be a no goer, at least they tried, better than sticking to your dirty brown coal and never trying to explore renewables.

Solar panels must have more than halved in price in a very short time.

Exactly, what else is life? Ya gotta live it: NO GOOD CAN COME FROM THE WASTE OF RESOURCES!
