Title: Sustainable Whaling Essential For Conservation Post by Prevailing on Aug 24th, 2012 at 4:57am
New information indicating that the oceans are teeming with Whales show that a shift towards sustainable Whaling by Australia and other nations could greatly assist in conservation at the same time giving us a valuable new resource...

What is disturbing me most is that 'Krill oil' is being massively promoted as a health supplement. It's like declaring cows HOLY and rounduping all the grass.

If the OP reads sources in the way that he highlights them, i.e. cherry picking points that seem to fit his preconceived notions about a topic and ignoring everything else in the article, it is little wonder he forms the weird, obsessive opinions he seems to hold.

Nothing infuriates me more than ads touting the wonders of WILD krill oil (as if that makes it better somehow?), it really makes my head spin that we could be so terminally short-sighted. |

The point is that any fish oil with Omega 3 fatty acids is just as good as krill oil and less expensive. Maybe krill oil is marginally more beneficial, but there isn't much in it (apart from profit)
It's like all the other health gimmicks like Goji berries, when more commonplace fruits like black grapes or blackcurrants can give just as much benefit for less price. Sustainable whaling? Maybe. There are bigger fish to fry. Maybe "wild" is the new "natural". ;D Both are neutral in terms of health effects, except as advertising buzz-words. |

The bottom of the food chain is always the more sustainable option.
The IWC scientific committee has been working on plans for the resumption of commercial whaling for some time. It is only politics in the way, and empty headed tree huggers. |

Do you genuinely trust whaling nations to use sustainable methods and target only the right species? |

No. That's what the IWC is for. It was whaling nations that set up the IWC and called for the ban on whaling. No-one is suggesting another free-for-all, and they would be cutting their own throats if they did that.
