Thomson has been attacked in the same manner as Gillard and she says Thomson is subject to a sexist smear campaign.

Gillard's got some balls.

Dealt with the greens/ind to form government.

Pushed through a carbon tax, she wanted it anyway, so no moral issue.

Went with the boat people plan and got an intake of people, so no moral issue.

Mining tax....hmmm, we'll see.

Plain fag packets - fair enough - wish i never had my first.

Stood there as they axed O'Lemon. The most popular dude ever.

Stood there today and answered questions about this slush fund/union thing (another waste of time and money)

Honestly, she is crapping all over Abbott. He is starting to sound (more) like an idiot.

I can see some more support swing to her.

Gillard has been on the front foot since last weeks announcement on refugees. Abbott never expected her to give in to Nauru and he has been on the backfoot ever since. Gillard has well and truly owned the last week or so,no matter what has been thrown at her, she is fair dinkum looking like she is in control.

Yea, looking at what the gov have been saying over the past couple of days it makes me think some of them read these forums, if not someone in their office. I heard Swan say yesterday that the nut jobs on the Internet were stoking theses stories and straight away thought of prog and armpit and prevailing. Then Roxan said that stories are getting a run in the main stream press after originating in cyber space where anyone can make any accusation and some of the lazy pricks at news Lmd pick it up and run with it as facts.

Agreed.

Skippy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and Gillard outright lied today in trying to associate the accusations with the so called mysogimists and loons on the internet.

The accusations were raised in Parliament by Robert McClelland. None of this originated from the internet.

The internet has had the means to keep up against shut down.

Gillard has not made this go away.

She did this in surprise on purpose. The hard questions will come later.

She is too scared to shut larry pickering up because he will get discovery in court. Says alot really.

The bagman will have his bit to say soon. Hope he has some real evidence and pickering will keep going because he knows gillard will do nothing about taking him to court, because she knows the outcome for her and othrs. They would rather take the risk of public opinion, than court opinion.

As for 'not out of the woods', gillard ambushed the media that were not prepared with questions. She may have been advised to go for it now and without warning, but that does not make it go away. The questions that are well thought out will linger.

The fact the bagman has not had his day in the sun makes that a possible bad situation for gillard. If he has actual evidence that goes against what gillard said in public, on media, then its good night gillard.

Wilson is even shopping around for media dollars to air his information. Dont know what he has, good or bad for gillard, but if it is concrete evidence and conflicts with gillards statements today, then that may well mean good night for gillard as well.

It wouldn't be the first time labor adviser's have screwed up royally, actually it would not be the first 20 times.

the fact that he is shopping around should be the first indication that he has no integrity, and if so why should he be believed ? didn't channel 9 pay for the story from the prostitue that slept with thommo? the one you were sure proved he was guilty? the one that wasn't even in this country at the time of the offense ?

The question that remains unanswered from Gillard is that why did she help to register an association which she later described as a “slush fund” to re-elect Bruce Wilson, but which the application form claimed was to improving workplace safety, on behalf of the Australian Workers Union?

Gillard claimed at the press comference that the section of the application for registration which spelled out the association’s purpose was actually written by Ralph Blewett, he's Bruce Wilson's bagman, despite being in legal parlance. And Gillard also avoided answering a question whether she’d at least checked that part of the application.

We might have heard the last of this, but we might not. As progs said, the TV journalists have the chequebooks open and both Blewitt and Wilson may talk. However, they are likely to seek some immunity from prosecution, which they are unlikely to get.

The one skeleton in Gillard's closet is the allegation — first raised under parliamentary privilege in 1995 by former Kennett minister Phil Gude — that Gillard's one-time partner Bruce Wilson, a former secretary of the Australian Workers' Union, was under investigation by the National Crime Authority and Victoria Police over the misappropriation of union funds.

According to Gude, the union funds were used to renovate Gillard's house and buy her some personal items.
