Title: Newman shows Labor how its done
Post by Armchair_Politician on Aug 22nd, 2012 at 4:34pm
Labor governments around the country take note of Newman's MP's....

QUEENSLAND'S frugal Liberal National Party (LNP) ministers are spending less per month on average than their Labor predecessors.

Premier Campbell Newman tabled a report in parliament on Wednesday detailing ministerial expenses for the last financial year.

It showed the former Labor government spent $27.2 million from July 1, 2011, until they lost the election on March 24 this year.

Since winning power, the LNP ministers have spent $8.2 million to the end of the financial year.

"These figures ... show my government is very focused on its own expenses, especially given the number of ministers and assistant ministers has increased," Mr Newman told parliament.

In the last financial year most ministerial expenditure went towards salaries and employee expenses such as superannuation ($22.5 million), accommodation and utilities ($5.7 million) and travel and car fleets ($2.6 million).

Well I guess the savings come from the fact that people are now in lines at Centrelink Offices and cannot find the time to meet their beloved LNP rep - so I guess that means they don't have to travel as much .   Come to queensland and see the devastation.   Not one fat-cat is going - it's all those people who man the counters and provide the face to face services.

But that is the Lib ways isn't it?  Anything for a surplus

Did anyone bother to get the calculator out.

27.2 divide 9(Jul/Mar) = 3.02 p/month

8.2 divid by 3(Apr/Jun) = 2.73 p/month

290k less

A saving yes, but lets wait until we get a full financial year & compare.

And really an amount smaller than the average mortgage in the scheme of a several billion $$$$ state budget????

Truly desperate stuff AP, banking on the stupidity of the electorate again I see, pity it seems to work :(

The thing that has been overlooked by all of us is during the 9 months that was quoted for Labor there was an election.
Whereas the Libs 3 months was just after 1.
Parties are given tax dollars to campaign so the 300k difference is probably how to vote cards and posters ;)

not to mention the simple fact that pollies spend a hell of a lot more on travel during election mode than any other time ..... door knocking, home, door knocking, home, day after day .... a chauffeur to take them around and wait for them, plus security for some of the more high profile MPs .. it wouldn't take much to build up to a nice figure over a 6 week period, and the QLD election campaign was longer than normal

What has MP pay rises got to do with disabled people and women with breast cancer????
What has MP pay rises got to do with20,000 unemployed public servants????

MPs have already pocketed a rise equivalent to 5.8 per cent of their salary, each scoring an extra $8000 under the expanded committee system introduced by Mr Newman.

You live with the guy and have no idea what the funding would be for.

Do you not know what he does for a living, or are you too busy on here to socially interact with actual humans face to face.

It was already explained to you in a previous thread that services to breast cancer were not cut. Only some bureaucracy was removed when moving it from being centrally planned to locally planned.
