CHEERS, applause and a standing ovation followed the announcement of a candidate to represent The Nationals for the seat of Lyne at the next federal election.

Almost 200 party members from throughout the electorate, including Taree, Wingham and Wauchope gathered at Port Macquarie Panthers to vote shortly before 5pm last night.

Dr David Gillespie was named as the man to represent the party in the 2014 federal election.

Dr Gillespie is a gastroenterologist at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and last year joined National party senators to campaign against the Carbon Tax in Port Macquarie.

The much-anticipated announcement will see the 54-year-old go head-to-head with incumbent MP Rob Oakeshott next year.

“I’m honoured that the party has chosen me and I’m feeling very proud,” Dr Gillespie told the Port News.

Dr Gillespie beat fellow preselection candidates former councillor and business owner Jamie Harrison, Army officer Captain Brett Sprague, Port Macquarie Panthers general manager Russell Cooper, IT systems engineer Aaron Mendham and owner of Paladin Panels in Wauchope Reg Pierce.

Dr Gillespie represented The Nationals at the 2010 election, and lost to Mr Oakeshott.

What is a 'defater'?   Is that someone who defates someone's fate?     If Oakshott's fate is that he will lose the next election, will this Nat defate him so he will win?

I could tell as soon as I read "standing ovation", that something smelt fishy. Now we know they are trying to reinvent a failure.  Good luck with that.

Hadnt you better start familiarizing yourself with sheep husbandary before your NZ move. Wouldnt want to arrive their "cold".  First impressions are vital.

Anyone running against Gillespie is a chance of winning.  Proven failures, are .... well proven failures.

Surely the nats could have found a better candidate than someone who had a 21% swing against them, when the libs/nats had a 2 or 3% swing to them australia wide.

Not really, but I do know that you seem to have this perverse obsession with me and masturbation. You remind me of Slipper.

Have you asked David what he'all do post next election? It must suck for him to be voted in once, become a minister in his second term after being re-electee, but then be annihilated in the election after that.

Dont wanna state the obvious, but its nothing to get that excited about.

The man did lose to Oakeshott last time.

With a swing of 21.53% to Oakshot

Independent      Rob Oakeshott      53,297      62.73      +62.73
National              David Gillespie      31,670      37.27      -21.53

Independent hold      Swing      +21.53

Massive Fail by matty the sheep botherer.

These are from 2 years ago. Move on.

So you actually think that Dopeshott stands a chance of winning?

And I won't dignify your disgusting comments with a response.

Anyone running against Gillespie is a chance of winning.  Proven failures, are .... well proven failures.

Surely the nats could have found a better candidate than someone who had a 21% swing against them, when the libs/nats had a 2 or 3% swing to them australia wide.

Proven failure - yes, that sums up Robbie perfectly.

Not really, but I do know that you seem to have this perverse obsession with me and masturbation. You remind me of Slipper.

Have you asked David what he'all do post next election? It must suck for him to be voted in once, become a minister in his second term after being re-electee, but then be annihilated in the election after that.

David? Gillespie? I guess he'll go back to being a specialist doctor. He earns over $180,000 a year you know!

Seems he sucks at being a pollie though:

Quote:
The Nationals candidate for Lyne had better firm up his position on carbon pricing ahead of next year's federal election, incumbent independent MP Rob Oakeshott says.

ON Sunday, gastroenterologist David Gillespie won preselection to run for the northern NSW seat, with Nationals' leader Warren Truss describing him as an "excellent local champion".

But Mr Oakeshott said an interview the doctor gave to ABC Mid North Coast early on Monday betrayed his lack of knowledge of the contentious subject of carbon pricing.

"When asked what his, or his National Party position on carbon pricing was, he stated: 'I'll have to go back to my notes'," Mr Oakeshott said in a statement.

Mr Oakeshott invited Dr Gillespie to explain the National Party strategy to get to a five per cent carbon emissions reduction by 2020.

On Sunday, Dr Gillespie said he expected the carbon tax to be one of the key issues at the next election.

"You can thank Rob Oakeshott for the carbon tax, he stood up there with Bob Brown and Julia Gillard, he took all the merit for it," Dr Gillespie told AAP.

"So he's got to take all the responsibility."

I wonder if he's had a go at gender reassignment?  :o

Weren't you going to be a doctor Matty?  Oh...failed the exam question that asked what was the difference between a picture of John Howard and an anus?  Should have ticked the 'not the same' box in the year 1 med exams

Oakeshott will be around to contest the next election but Abbott is unlikely to be there now his scams are unravelling.

He may not win but at least he will be contesting the seat..Abbott wont even have the chance to contest his seat at the next election now his scams are unravelling.

Well that is certainly a matter of opinion. My opinion is you are way off. Abbott will contest and win by a landslide. Possibly the biggest win in history.

These posts are too funny. I can't wait until the Friday before next election - I am going to drag up all of these posts in laugh in your faces, just before Swan, Oakeshott, Bradbury and there all lose their seats in massive swings and landslides.

You need to get your hand off your dick, tugger. You'll never be a good surgeon if you have one hand down your pants all the time. How would you ever do anything beyond "scalpel"? And imagine the disaster if you got your scalpel hand and your tugger hand confused!

Still fantasising about sucking my far-right dick, hey Gist?
