With the savings that could be made, I'd take the role on for $191,000.00.  I'd even drive myself there to do it, its only 3 to 4 hours to Canberra up the Hume for me.

I don't know why this turned to Oakeshott, but now that it has, could someone tell me of any job that he's ever held out of politics? As much as I don't like Gillard and About, at least they had jobs before going into politics in their mid to late 30s.

some would say having a position that cannot be bought is called ETHICAL. Gillard was prepared to negotiate ANYTHING for power. If the greens had demanded gay marriage for Bandts vote, we would now have gay marriage. If oakeshott had demanded a tax summit every week we would ahve one. at least we only had the one - which was a 100% waste of time.

Of course it's not about her. I am just using an example to illustrate the point. Rudd and Swan have been great, and they don't deserve to lose their seats. Ministers shouls not be losing their seats. In the state election, the QLD people owed it to andrew Fraser to re-elect him, as he was wantes by the party to become leader, but instead turfed him out.

and with Oakeshotts 35%+ swing against him that is pretty damning evidence that the electorate does NOT consider themselves 'represented'. they wanted Abbott and their supposed rep give them Gillard. The only question that remains is why 14% are still going to vote for him.

I repeat... you really dont get the whole representational democracy thing. Labor might ahve wanted Fraser, but the people didnt and the people get to choose. And they didnt want Labor either.
