Title: I am leaving Australia because of the carbon tax.
Post by matty on Jun 29th, 2012 at 8:13pm
I won't be paying for this undemocratic, dictatorial carbon tax, introduced by this pathetic and incomperent shambolic government. I have decided to leave the shore of Darwin, here in my own home land, and go and live in New Zealand for several months. I will come back in time before the next election.

Isn't that bit drastic, Matty? I hate the government and carbon tax as well, but it's only a year until we get to kick them to the curb.  :)

If true, then all the best, and please do return soon. This country needs more young people with initiative.

I'll be leaving Oz in about 7 years when I sell the house and business pocket 800K and live off the interest in Fiji.

By then Australia will be a poo fight full of unemployed and homeless a sjobs go offshore industry and business shut down, resulting in huindreds of thousands of ppl having no income.

We'll be like Mexico or Johanasburg within a decade, 20K jobs gone by cando campbell, massive job losses announced almost weekly.

Country is a car crash in progress.

Compared to what will happen here, which will be every man for himself, remember what happened in New Orleans, well thats what we are facing here.

When everyone is out of work and haven't eaten for days, well I hope you can defend yourself and your wife and daughters???

History always repeats itslef, and I bet my last dollar that years ago no one would have predicted what happened in New Orleans would happen, or a City would end up like a Sth African toilet where even the most heinouis murders don't even make the news.

This country is selling itself out and it will become maybe not today or tomorrow but a very dangerous place to be, desperate ppl do desperate things and in time we will have hundreds of thousands of desperate ppl.

..then you will raise the IQ of both nations  ;D

... sorry 'bout that one, I stole it from a NZ PM

But seriously..NZ? They have even bigger sticks up the clacker than we do!
I hope you remember to pack your "If you don't know me, don't 'Bro' me" t-shirt.

Fiji I can understand, but there are loads of places (almost all) around the world where the people are more natural and less striving toward their grave than here.
I'd suggest to research the net and travel to 10 or 20 destinations that you think you might like first.
Failing that, a week in NZ will surely make you appreciate Australia.

With 55,000 kiwis migrating here every year because of NZ's poor economy it looks like Matty is cutting his nose off to spite his face.
Its a good thing he will still be able to use this forum so we can show him just how little effect the Carbon price has on businesses and day to day life in this country.
Will he still be able to study for his degree in NZ and continue his bid for a National Party seat?

Isnt NZ looking at implimenting a price on carbon as well?  ;D

The government is doubling the minimum tax threshold to about $18,000 if memory serves. That means anyone earning up to $17,999 pays no tax whatsoever on their earnings. How does the government intend to make up for this shortfall in taxation revenue? Yep, that's right - we'll have to pay for it later through a tax hike or even a new tax!

Good luck Matty  :D

Excuse me, don't make fun of Matty's surgery.

Don't listen to a word these leftards say, Matty. These people are vile.

Anyway, I'm going too. Matty and I are quite happy to pay a higher GST, thank you. A GST is a progressive tax,  not a regressive tax on carbon, which is actually good for the environment.

Shane B is an economist in Canberra, so he should be able to tell you why. I agree with Woof Woof. This country is going down the drain.

Still, it will feel a lot better when Mr Abbott gets in and Matty and I can return. If we manage it well, it will be good publicity for the Liberal Party. It will be reminiscent, I think, of Imelda Marcos's much publicised return from exile in Palm Springs.

We might be able to pull in a few swinging voters.

In the process of saying climate changes and will continue to change, you are also implying anthropogenic released CO2 has no significant influence on the nature of that change.

Perhaps you could tell us why you think reducing atmospheric CO2 won't result in a cooler outcome than business as usual.

Whether that is true or not is not the point as far as Im concerned. It is prudent to make the changes we need to move away from fossil fuels if not because of CO2 pollution then because we need to sort it out before we begin to run out and then have to make the changes in a panic.
Now is a good time with the rise of China and India, the massive pollution problems they are facing and the increasing costs of fossil fuels.
Disregarding CO2 pollution does not make solving our pollution and rising energy cost problems any less of an issue.

Nope.  The onus is on the AGW disciples.  They're the ones doing all the fear mongering.

Humans don't cause climate change, and they have no ability to stop it from continuing. Hitherto, no reliable evidence has been presented that supports the AGW hypothesis.

Great. Highly credible advice on a complex area of science from a lawyer.

Should I also take my car to a plumber to fix? Maybe he can give me medical advice while I'm there. It's all plumbing after all.

A very sad today for Australia - the day our democracy died. Putting aside al beliefs about climate change, Labor clearly said there would be none.

Matty's moving is symbolic of the many Australians feel - disgsuted, frustrated and just broken hearted by this appalling government.

Looking on the bright side, however, half the year is gone. Just another one of them to go, and it will be election year.

Do what you wish.  If you believe in AGW you'll believe in anything.  So, yes, take your car to your plumber.  Just approach it with the same closed-mindedness as you do climate change and you might just get lucky.

Looking on the bright side, however, half the year is gone. Just another one of them to go, and it will be election year.

He should have posted his flight number so we could have all waved him goodbye with tears in our eyes

The carbon tax has many victims today..Whyalla and Matty  :'(

Yes, democracy being by far the biggest.

Things like the ct are a direct result of not having a real democracy.
Its nothing to do with the parties, but the system under which they operate.

A system of some trust between the people and the parties. If the parties suffiently break that trust, you get what is coming to labor and has come to labor via the states.

So then vote in Libs who do exactly the same thing?
Come on this pointless tug of war has got us no where.
Time for Australia to grow up and stop this pissing contest.
Lib and lab are two peas in a pod.

And your suggestion is...... drum roll. The greens  ;D ;D ;D ;D

No.

Well what is your suggestion then.

My suggestion is to keep crushing the party that says 'there will be no ???? in a government I lead' only for them to do it to gain power.

Whats yours.
All parties do that???
My suggestion is to alter the system under which the parties operate and to actually have a democracy where governments are governed by the people and not by the financial system.

I can do my suggestion by not voting for the government who did the 'there will be no' thing and letting everyone I know not to vote for them.

How will you and others do your suggestion.

No, we're still here. Matty wanted me to check whether flights to New Zealand have a carbon tax. No one at Jetstar could tell me - they just said the taxes are included in the all-in fare price, but they don't break all the different taxes down.

I could have just told Matty it's carbon tax free, but he'd get really difficult if he listened to Alan and found out we'd paid the carbon tax. You've no idea how he can get sometimes.

I said we should just put it on expenses, but then he started carrying on about Craig Thomson and how he's above all that, and to cut a long story short, I'm going to have to pay for my own fare.

Can you believe it? I've got a good mind not to go, but that could be what he wants and I'll be damned if I'm going to let him go over there with all those cute Maoris and have a good time while I'm over here working on the campaign.

Does anyone know if they put a carbon tax on flights to New Zealand?

They've got a sale on now, so I need to get in quick.

True, SOB, but Matty doesn't want to pay a tax "borne of a lying, barren woman" - I think he got that off Alan. He says he doesn't want to pay a tax that has Juliar as its mother.

It's complicated, but Matty feels dirty paying a Labor tax. He said he feels his social contract has been breeched. He doesn't want to be infected by "this sickness in the nation's body politic."

Matty, you see, is studying medical science, not law. Mind you, he's going to have to defer while we're in New Zealand.

Another thing to do.

Yes, all confirmed now. I'm leaving on Saturday. My parents own a home in NZ, so i'll be living there, and my father's given me a couple of hundred thousand. I'll be deferring my studies and just taking a break. I won't be posting here, giving politics a bit of a miss too. Matty, we won't need two hundred thousand if we just go with the boat option.

I know the carbon tax has raised transport prices, but let's save the money and go with the cheaper option.

wait wait...did you say a few hundred thousand dollars? Sounds to me like you're not a very good at budgeting and spending money given you need that much for less than a year.

Plus, I really think Indonesia is a better option; you won't need those few hundred thousand dollars as you'll get free health cover, free dental, free cigerettes, free PS2 and free TV!!  And a free house!

Agreed.

In addition to the fact that no one cares, it has nothing to do with the carbon tax (which is what this topic is about).

Not that it matters, bit he's given me twenty thousand dollars. No more, no less. I've been posting less te last few days, from exhaustion, because I've been geting minimal sleep. I don't even know what I was thinkng last night, I was spaced out a lot of the time. I've been getting about 2 hours sleep for the last week or so, with a couple of nights none whatsoever. Why would I even bother lying about such a thing? The only lie that I've ever told on here was that I was once a member of the Greens, which I freely admit was a lie.

Without stimulus spending there would have been much higher unemployment and a further loss of revenue due to slowed growth and lack of investment.....The Government supported the economy while the Private sector struggled to survive the down turn....You ignorance is not surprising as you have no idea do you???

If I can just clarify Matty's position here - when Matty says "your" carbon tax, he is referring to all Australians, including himself. Matty did not mean to distance himself from his Australian citizenship, or indeed, his love for Australia, which is profound.

While Matty understands that removing the carbon tax will be a challenge for the incoming government, he believes that it will be possible, in line with Coalition policy. Matty is currently studying medical science - he is not a constitutional lawyer. But he doesn't rule out a series of double dissolution elections if a Liberal majority is not reached in the senate. Obviously, repealling the carbon tax will take a number of years if Mr Abbott decides to go with this policy after the next election.

As an election has not been called, Mr Abbott is under no obligation to explain his alternative policies. As opposition leader, his job is to obstruct and oppose the government. Mr Abbott is not required to explain himself or solve the current government's problems for them.

Matty supports Mr Abbott 100%.

He knows, but he dismisses it by saying "NZ has an ETS, not a carbon tax."

Not sure if that's a typo or not.

Kiwis have an ETS  not a carbon tax based on lies.

Didnt Abbott vote against the ETS the Labor party had a mandate to introduce because he said it was evil and would destroy the country?
How is NZ going with an ETS Matty?

NZ have an ETS, at a much lower cost, it's not a carbon tax.

I am going tomorrow, and will be back in a year or so. Today will be my last day on here until then, unless I pp in for a brief cameo here and there, although that's not likely.

As said, I will be back, more determined and powerful than ever. You haven't seen the last of matty.

True. Matty may have to country-hop for a bit. However, his parents have a house in New Zealand.

Northern Territory too. Ryde, Hornsby, they have houses all over the place. I'm sure he'll find a country where his parents have a house. Matty, you see, does not receive benefits or stack shelves in Coles. He refuses to.

His next job will be as Liberal backbencher earning at least $180,000 a year, thank you very much.

Matty, this stunt of yours really isn't necessary. We all know how much you hate Juliar and the carbon tax. The Liberal Party needs you right here in Australia. We need to do everything we can to clean up all those marginal seats. The campaign is on already.

Look, I'll have a chat with Mr Abbott and see if we can get you in. The Liberal Party's a broad church. Will you at least stay for a meeting with Mr Abbott? His office assistant is really nice too. Sheila. We call her Sheils.

Matty, these lefties refuse to come to terms with the Deluzean notion of the body without organs. Trapped within an atomised Aristolelian order, they just can't understand multiple subjctivity and semiotic plurality. Obviously, their tradition favours unity, collectivisation and an antiquated notion of community. However, they can't fathom the heterogenous interstices inherent in the pneumena of the post-Cartesean subject. It's all dialectics to them.

Now, we both know there is no such unified form of consciousness known as "Matty". Shane B, Woof Woof, Juliar, Blackadder, Phallic Baldwin - not even these signifiers come close to defining the complexity of such a heterogenous subject. The leftards ignore this completely. They forget that they themselves are adrift in a sea of discursive memes and signifiers, something we understand all too well.

As an author, we know that "Matty" does not exist. Nor does Shane B, Juliar, Woof Woof, HaimRevolution, Awesome, etc, etc, etc. They are mere voices - not even that. They are a set of competing discourses trapped within a name. They are not even subject to time or place. The Matty voice can embody whichever gender he chooses. He/she can live wherever they like. He/she can be as old or as young as they choose, rich or poor, married or single, Liberal, Labor, Green, etc, etc, etc.

These leftards just don't get it.

yes I have been to most states in Australia, at my age now of 44 I am not a kid.

so priceing people out of society how is that stimulous.

economic stimulus packages, well a lot of us didn't see the $900 hand out for the GFC and as for there cabon tax reimbushment handout now given to pensioners, the unemployed, and soon workers, well $250 at the maximum rate is useless.

if mine has been paid well it hasn't benifited me because its already gone.

Your the idiot if you waste it or are you too young to get pay, we still in kindy. The ETS is a none event and will be the big fizzer that makes Abbott look the idiot he is. Has Whyalla closed yet, has mining investment collapsed, the power generators have all closed their doors and the coal industry had been shut down, yes???

Get a life, better still get a job and stop being so gullible.

WELL THEN PROVIDE A JOB YOU IGNORANT ARSHOLE

13 pages of dibble because you ignorant buggers think you have the right ridicul Matty because he's got the gumtion to go and do something different to better his life.

you all want to help put his bags on the plane, you have no right to do that.

we choose to stay here in australia, a country that is fast becoming a third world country, something that when it happens, everyone will suffer.
even you lot with your uptight attitude, sooner or later you will suffer, like most of us are already sufferring.

fast becoming a third world country? are you nuts or just plain stupid? ...I bet you have never travelled out of your suburb let alone out of the country ... you wouldn't know what a third world country is .....

- Worlds Best economy
- ranked 1st or 2nd best country to live by united nations for at least the last decade......

you wouldn't know a third world country if it fell on you ....

Ignorant

yes I have been to most states in Australia, at my age now of 44 I am not a kid.

the situation is this without any futher help I am limited in travel options, thus being able to travel overseas like most other Australian get to do.

and with a carbon tax it will become futher out of the reach of all Australians.

you can't just say well Save your money. saving won't do it.

then maybe you should save your comments for things you may actually know something about .... you wouldn't last a week in a 3rd world country .... and if your 44 you can hardly blame labor for your 'position' as most of your working life was under a liberal govt. .... if your struggling as much as you say you are, you'll be better of with a carbon tax then you were without ... the compensation been paid out to you more than covers it ... maybe if you save the extra compensation,  in a year or two you can also travel overeas ...

The only thing this carbon tax will do is make mining companys richer, they will pay their tax , but utimately they will pass that expense on to their Australian customer,(the public) and it won't just be the mineing companys that will do every money making business out there will do it. So busness owners not only get a slice of GST, they will also get a slice of carbon tax profits al well.

and who pays the customer, that has to buy products from the business.
We now have a prime minister that is providing help to working familys with the tax changes etc, what about thows of us that don't get to work, and thus become put of the working familys situation.

if matty was given $20000 will at least he can afford the travel expenses and the set up of a life in another country.

I would estimate that at any one time daily, i would only have avaialble 1/3 of the money required for a overseas trip, and saving and working hard isn't going to do it.

wheres my profits from the carbon tax that is mean't to help all out there. oh thats right its only for working familys not idiviuals.
