What a stupid question. You are obviously ignorant of section 116 of the Constitution of Australia. Let me enlighten you: Quote:
The examples you came up with are pretty lame as well. Mussolini was anti-clerical, even declaring on occasion that he was an atheist. Several times tried to shock his audience by calling on God to strike him dead. Hitler ceased to participate in the sacraments after childhood. Hitler remained a Catholic in name only - he did not practise the Catholic faith and his lifestyle did not represent Catholicism. The Nazi state removed crucifixes from the walls of Catholic classrooms and replaced it with a photo of the Fuhrer - hardly the actions of Catholic believers. Franco was Catholic (hardly unusual in Spain), but appears to have been fairly indifferent to the Church. Berlusconi is only Catholic when there is some political advantage to be had. And the Church's attitude to Berlusconi? The head of an Italian bishops' conference condemned his “licentious behaviour and improper relations”...... |
