He was granted asylum in australia. I dont know if he was granted citizenship. So whatever country he came from would be his passport I suppose unless they just give them all british passports. Apparently he came from iraq.

I doubt he came from Iraq if he come on a boat he might have been born in Iraq but he would have come from Java...

Well wouldn't you have a passport if you have a visa? A visa goes in a passport. In that case all asylum seekers would be granted a passport if they are granted a visa?

I could be wrong here (it may have changed) but when I had a passport my visas were stamped within it.

Yeah residential visas. But im pretty sure you need a passport to have a visa and since they apparently dont have any id when they come in then australia would issue them some. It is possible they are british passports but prolly aussie. I tried to google it but didnt find any information on what passports they get but apparently he says he is from iraq.
