Title: Gina Rheinhardt symbol of how stuffed we are
Post by red baron on May 25th, 2012 at 6:18pm
It was hard to get the title right for this one. Here we have Gina Rheinhardt soaring over 70 billion dollars in value on the vast amounts of treasure trove she has in the ground.  Our treasure trove but she has it. This is exactly what is wrong with this country.

Excuse me for bringing it up but isn't that stuff in the ground ours? Obviously it isn't. The laws that enable such disgusting amounts of wealth to be confined to individuals is a symptom of how stuffed out society is.

The laws of this country needs being deep sixed into the ocean and let's start again.

There is abject poverty about, then we have this super rich bitch with 70 billion dollars of what is really our money.

I don't mind successful business people but this one just makes you want to reach for the vomit bucket.

She has that wealth in the sense that she manages it. It is not a trainload of suitcases stuffed with cash.
Could any of you manage - or want the responsibility to manage - $70 billion? or even $1 Billion?
Envy is all very well but who would rather have to manage it all?
A government committee? The unions? Wayne Swan? The 'Collective'? Che Guevara and Castro? Your local commune? Bob and his uncle? Who?

Thank you. I thought you would have nothing but envy and rancour.

This is why the proletariat must be crushed. Slavery's too good for 'em!

The aborigines get mining royalties , if you are not a native then buy shares in a mining company if you want a slice.

If they are not aussie workers then they pay a higher rate of income tax.

Compare the tax rates for aussies vs imported non aussie workers.

We have low unemployment not many aussies want to work in mines.

No one person should manage all that wealth, I think that is the point we are making.

Its not envy to want everyone to get an EQUAL share. The only envious and selfish people in this case are the rich and it goes way beyond that into the point of being psychopaths.

Lets not look at the methods of the system, lets look at the results; and clearly this system is a complete failure.

Why not run it like a large co-op and give every aussie an equal part? So that no one person can benefit without others benefiting the same.

Because then you, and people like you, would have as much say as competent, wise, switched-on people.

You are NOT equal.

Here we have a woman with so much money she couldn't spend it in five lifetimes. Her family hate her and are regularly fighting her in the courts. She could never trust anyone who shows a personal interest in her because their motives would be suspect.

That's competent, wise and switched on?

Australia - land of the tall poppy syndrome.

In the United States, successful people are promoted and seen as role models.

In Australia they try and cut you down to make the inadequate feel better.

Sad really.

No. That's just blind thinking based on the belief that success means money. It is no wonder the USA is such a stuffed up country.

Yet provides me a standard of living better than in Australia at half the cost?

So we should continue with the system that is failing?
Now I don't know much but I assume if something isn't working you usually try and fix it.

Who did you ask for that opinion because from what I can see majority of Americans are starting to wake up to the ignorance that snake oil salesman like you try and push.
Successful people are not promoted by society, they are promoted purely by money which gives no indication to a persons real worth.
Perhaps you should ask the millions of Americans living below the poverty line what they think of your wank models.

Obviously we all need SOME money in order to survive. But to claim that you judge a person's success in life by the amount they have is blind thinking.

Poverty in the US

Quote:
Those under the age of 18 were the most likely to be impoverished. In 2006, the poverty rate for minors in the United States was the highest in the industrialized world, with 21.9% of all minors and 30% of African American minors living below the poverty threshold.[7] Moreover, the standard of living for those in the bottom 10% was lower in the U.S. than other developed nations except the United Kingdom, which has the lowest standard of living for impoverished children in the developed world.[8]
