BICYCLE Network Victoria has slammed the state budget, saying it reversed 20 years of progress.

Its chief, Harry Barber, said he was shocked by the decision to stop funding the VicRoads Bicycle Program, which delivers bicycle infrastructure across the state.

He said high-priority infrastructure projects planned for next year, such as a cyclists' bridge over the Maribyrnong River at Footscray, had also been scrapped.


"We never expected that the Baillieu government would reverse 20 years of gradual progress by both both sides of politics and shut down one of the most popular and effective programs in the government," he said.


"This decision is clearly not the result of a careful and measured budget reduction process, it is a deliberate policy decision to do nothing."

It is about spending what the budget can afford. The house is trashed and that is why this is happening.

When the budget can afford such luxuries, then they will get money.

Luxuries such as basic infrastructure..yep do the neo con thing and leave it for others to achieve.
Trash the house and then whinge when the next generation has to borrow to fix it.
The Vic Libs promised so much and all they have done is turned the great state of Victoria into a crumbling beggar state so dont be surprised if they get kicked out and dont see power again for a decade or two.
