Title: Is Perpetual Growth Logical

If you were living on an island, would you support perpetual grow of the economy. If this growth cost the environment of this island.

Now expand the idea of the island to the planet.

Should we stop rewarding perpetual growth and start rewarding any and all shifts towards sustainability.

The Libs know their survival in the 21st century depends on factoring in the globally recognised unsustainability of the John Howard era!

Logical? Depends on the scope and specifics of the premises in the argument. So it could very well be "Logical".

Whether the position is intelligent or even makes sense? No.

Perpetual growth through use of resources is not possible. The environment is limited.

Perpetual growth driven by technology is.  There is no reason why technology cannot keep improving infinitum.

Well then we're all stuffed, aren't we.

Without resources we don't have technology or anything else for that matter.

Something to look forward to.

The population keeps growing at an alarming rate, and they all want to eat and comsume other goods, and that cannot go on forever.
