Title: Jim Stynes RIP
Post by adelcrow on Mar 20th, 2012 at 8:13am
Just heard that Jim Stynes has died after his battle with cancer.
I found out around the same time that I had contracted the same cancer (malignant melanoma) as Jim and have had treatment over the same period the difference being that I am now cancer free.
Its important that everyone gets regular checks because the earlier you pick these agressive cancers up the better chance you have for a long and happy life and the less chance there is of secondary tumors such as brain, lung and liver cancer.
RIP Jim Stynes and the many friends Ive met along the way.

Jim was a great person who was one of the few players to have respect from opposition supporters and opponents.....A great footballer and an equally great human being.....There will never be another Jim Stynes he was one of the greatest ever to don a football boot or grace the hollowed turf of the M.C.G.....Jim Stynes will be sadly missed by everyone who loves football!!!

:'( :'( :'(

Let us ALSO, at this moment, not forget to spare a thought for the grandparents, the mothers, the fathers, brothers, sisters and children of the "not so famous" ...

120 plus Australians

... who will succcumb to a form of cancer, in this 24 hour period

That's a nice tribute buzz, to the ordinary men, women and children who die from cancer every day, and don't turn into legends.

How sad you attempt to separate them because one was well known. >:(

Becuase he was a legend (according to you) does that deminish the magnitude of his death on his friends and family?

People like Stynes, being so public in their battle, open up dialogue and show every day people that anyone can be effected. I hope his valiant battle, in the public eye. leads more people to get check-ups etc.

RIP Jim Stynes

a greater sadness he was given so much hope at Christmas time..this disease is a shocker..I lost my husband to lung cancer 8 days after he was diagnosed..I can still remember the chill that went through me when I finally understood he wouldnt survive..

my heart goes out to his family..and closest friends..they will be devastated for a long time
