Hopefully it will pass without too much damage being done. From experience, it's not much fun when you know that a powerful cyclone is headed your way.

Cyclone Lua upgraded to category four
http://www.news.com.au/national/cyclone-lua-upgraded-to-category-four/story-e6frfkvr-1226302410817

Quote:
TROPICAL Cyclone Lua has been upgraded to category 4 as communities take shelter along Western Australia's northwest coast following the issue of a red alert.

Lua is expected to make landfall some time this afternoon, bringing with it potentially devastating wind gusts of up to 230km/h along with heavy rain, flooding and a dangerous storm tide.

A bulletin issued by WA's Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) at 5.45am (WST) today said a red alert was in place for coastal communities between Wallal and Port Hedland, including 80 Mile Beach, Sandfire, Pardoo and South Hedland in the Pilbara and Kimberley.

Yes, we were monitoring that site last night. A relative works at Marble Bar. He was baled up in his accommodation and told to stay there until somebody knocked on the door. He's fine.
