It was potentially the best reform presented in decades.

It could have helped thousands of families with a huge problem.

I hope those who scuttled the policy get what they deserve.

Leaders afraid of tiny minorities with big mouths make me sick. Pokie reform didn't go far enough. It's a soul destroying addiction for many people. They should be confined to the big casinos, as they are here in the West.

The pokies are a real problem in Australia, but it will be hard to eliminate the problems, because of addiction is very strong among people with weaknesses.
I once read a letter to the editor; surprisingly it was published, it read:

Instead of all the bells and whistles ringing when someone won a jackpot, the machines should tell the gamblers after they lost, say $50, you are a loser, after $100, you are a sucker,stupid, etc.
The writer stated, that even hardened gamblers could not stand it, to be told they are stupid losers.
