It's a shame that we have a new Julia, because she's a liar. She said that the reports in the papers yesterday about Bob Carr being approached about a Senate Vacancy left by Make Arbib. Well, it turns out that the papers WERE correct, and that Carr indeed was approached. This real and new Julia, in a so-called new era/phase/whatever, is a change, but a change for the worse. I want back the previous Julia, that is, the one who epitomised truth, integrity, honour and honesty.

Give me a list of pollies in the coalition that never lie and then I will start to care about these school yard taunts.

but when asked in parliament she replied  with don't always believe what you read in the news papers. so in other words she has lead parliament to believe the papers are not correct.

Bob Carr was told he would be considered for the position of Foreign Affairs Minister which is a long way from being offered the position.....Bob Carr has confirmed this is the case and the fact that he was not guaranteed any position only that it would be considered!!!

You idiot. The ALP NSW secretary and Sam Dastyari approached Bob Carr, not Gillard. Sam then contacted Gillard to tell her Bob was available. Gillard declined the offer.

In other words, for the dunderheads, Sam was trying to broker a deal to get Bob into the Senate - one he obviously thought was pretty good. He got knocked back.

C'mon Macca.....you are capable of debating issues without resorting to such petty worthless personal attacks.....Or is this what you have been reduced to with the pathetic attacks from the opposition that lack any substance and reflect what Abbott has done to the Liberal party.....The Liberal party used to debate the economy and how it stood for the future prosperity of Australia with sound policies and a fiscal responsibility they where proud of.....Now they refuse to debate policies and fail to show any fiscal responsibility what so ever.....Tony Abbott has reduced the Liberal party to three word slogans and a policy vacuum that renders them mute on the economy.....Abbott is showing a complete lack of leadership by allowing the Liberal party to be reduced to nothing which is all he is offering the Australian people!!!

JULIA Gillard has admitted she spoke to former NSW premier Bob Carr about her upcoming ministerial reshuffle as she canvassed options to fill the foreign affairs portfolio.

The Prime Minister yesterday attacked as “completely untrue” a story in The Australian that she had offered the foreign ministry to Mr Carr before being forced to withdraw the offer under pressure from senior ministers Stephen Smith and Simon Crean.

But she refused to repeat the denial in parliament today - as she did yesterday - and conceded she had spoken to Mr Carr in the wake of Monday's caucus ballot, when she fought off former foreign minister Kevin Rudd's leadership challenge.

“I believe that is appropriate for me as Prime Minister to have discussions with people about having the best possible team,” Ms Gillard said today, in answer to a question from Tony Abbott.

“If the Leader of the Opposition is so interested, yes I did have a conversation with Bob Carr, as I had a conversation with a number of other people.”

Under a proposal initially raised with Mr Carr by NSW Labor general secretary Sam Dastyari, the former NSW premier would have taken up a Senate vacancy opened by the retirement of factional boss Mark Arbib, on the condition he was given the foreign affairs ministry.

The Australian Online believes subsequent talks with Ms Gillard proceeded on the basis that the offer was already on the table.

The Prime Minister said today that only she could make offers in relation to the ministry.

Opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Julie Bishop said Ms Gillard has “an instinct to manufacture, to fabricate”.

She said the issues went to the Prime Minister's “very character and personal integrity”, saying there was a pattern of behaviour emerging “that borders on the pathological”.

“She is a fabricator,” Ms Bishop told parliament.

“The Prime Minister didn't claim that parts of (The Australian's story) were untrue or there was an incorrect nuance - she said it was completely untrue.”

If only the Coalition MPs could have as much honesty and integrity as Julia.

An interesting point is raised here -

The Coalition has a Strategy Unit which advises Tony Abbott and probably the other Coalition members on what to say and what to do. So, when a Coalition member gets up to speak they are saying and doing what their Strategy advisor has told them to do. So Julie is just playing the part the Coalition Strategy Unit has worked out for her. Notice how questions are now being asked by all sorts of Coalition members whereas before Tony Abbott did most of the talking.

On the other hand the ALP has 2 "Strategy Units" :-
1. The faceless Sussex Street union power brokers who have the ultimate power over the ALP.
2. The ALP "Strategy Unit" which is supposed to advise Miss Gillard and probably other ALP members.
So which one does Miss Gillard listen to ? What if the advice conflicts ? Perhaps this is why Miss Gillard seems to behave like a headless chook most of the time. Is there also a Kevin Rudd Strategy Unit which lurks in the shadows ?
