Title: What will Abbott do???
Post by philperth2010 on Feb 19th, 2012 at 4:39pm
If Abbott becomes PM what will he do???

Scrap the carbon tax.....
The carbon tax will have little affect on individuals or companies but will have a huge bearing on revenue.....Direct action is expensive and ineffective and must be paid for out of consolidated revenue!!!

Scrap the mining tax.....
The mining tax will have no affect on mining investment or the consumer but it will have a huge bearing on revenue and reduce the Governments ability to protect industries and build the foundations for future growth!!!

Reintroduce Nauru and expensive off shore processing whilst turning back the boats at sea.....
The policy of persecution and trying to turn boats back might have an affect on people seeking asylum in Australia however this will no doubt send these people somewhere else so it is no longer our problem.....Further eroding our relationship with Indonesia who have already rejected the policy from Abbott....No solution to the plight of refugees but Abbott can keep desperate people from seeking any assistance from Australia.....Hardly something to be proud of!!!

Introduce a very generous paid maternity scheme.....
Abbott's paid maternity leave scheme is to expensive and will force companies to keep jobs open for up to six months....Paid for by a levy (not a tax) on business to reward greed....A sort of reverse means test where the more wealthy you are the more you get....Wealthy parents need more money for silver spoons!!!

Restoring the health care rebate.....
This will be expensive and cost the budget billions that will increase over time adding nothing to the public system.....The rebate does not decrease the amount of sick people of provide more doctors and nurses it just makes private health funds richer!!!

Provide tax cuts for all Australian's including millionaires without raising any taxes.....
Further eroding budget revenue and the Governments ability to invest for the future and fund services.....Tax cuts without a dividend or gain in productivity.....worthless vote buying!!!

Abbott will dump the NBN.....
Technology that will pay for itself and provide revenue for many decades to come.....Telecommunications will still have to be replaced due to the aging copper network however without the NBN we can expect a far inferior service and little for the country where profits are not worth the time of the private sector!!!

Abbott has revealed he wants to return to the policies of the Howard Government despite the fact the world has changed since the days of high end tax cuts and pork barreling.....
So far all we know about Tony Abbott's policies is that he will be an expensive gamble who is offering nothing accept giving more to people who are well off and less to people who are struggling.....I cannot see what is good about any of his policies to be honest!!!

The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealised past.

And the world is full of people who want to engineer instability and insecurity for their own sake and their own profit and hang the intended human consequences....collateral damage and growing pains to them... 8-)

You forgot to add Workchoices.
Once the Libs are back in, and at this rate, with Labor infighting and 95% of Australian media owned by regressive right wingers... they will get in.

Number 1 priority will be to implement WorkChoices. This time it will probably be more extreme (as a sort of revenge against the Australian people).

I imagine minimum wage will be lowered, Holiday pay, overtime and Sunday loadings will go. Holidays will be reduced or removed altogether. In America, the normal is 2 weeks a year if you are lucky. Hours work will be increased, whereas overall pay will be lowered.

Tax on the lower income earners will be increased, whereas millionaires will get a tax cut.

This is where Australia is headed. It's a race to the bottom.

If labor try to run that line, they will be sorry they did. The electorate are not playing labor games very well and will see straight through that argument as the lying labor are being desperate and dishonest.

Saying that, anything is possible now that labor have started a precidence of lying at election time on major issues.

Abbott will dump the carbon tax and the cheering from Australians will be heard around the world.

Abbott will not introduce any of his carbon reduction measures. He will defer any action until Canada, Japan, China, Brazil, USA, South East Asia, Africa (particularly South Africa), the Middle East and South American countries (particular power house Brazil) agree to do anything. Which at the moment they are doing nothing.
Abbott will cite the collapse of the EU trading scheme price and the fact those Euro countries are now exporting their manufacturing jobs to China and India because of ETS imposts.

Abbott will set up an IR productivity enquiry. It will focus on the workings of the draconian changes instigated by unions' wish lists of demands and dutifully implemented by Gillard. The findings will result in the dismantling of the union run Fair Work Australia. The ABCC will be re-established to belt the bejesus out of the militant union thugs and again kick their sorry arses off the building sites. Productivity will rise and worker employee relationships will again thrive. The pointless us and them mentality encouraged by the unions will fade away again.

Abbott will abandon the wastful green schemes saving tax payers billions. The wailing of Bob Brown and the greens will be heard around the world. Suck it up idiots.

Abbott will call a double dissolution and the Greens will be decimated.

Abbott will reopen Nauru, reintroduce temporary protection visas and turn the boats back.

Abbott will repair relations with Indonesia caused by stupid Gillard and the live cattle trade debacle.

Abbott will restore Australia's finances and begin to pay off yet another Labor debt legacy.

as it seems imminent that he could be PM next week I would think what he would do is far more important than what abbott may or may not do..

as it is... just about everything this govt has touched has turned to porridge...so maybe by the time Abbott gets in none of phils forecasts will be anything to worry about..

as they will all have folded under their own..deluge of mismanagement and ineptness or just plain run out of money...

No need for the insult?

But you can expect that if you disagree with some.

I think it is almost certain that the Libs would re introduce some aspects of workchoices with a different - or maybe no name.

Actually both the relevant minister and Mr Abbott refused to commit to removing it. In fact almost the opposite when the minister said that he had some exciting plans for health inferring that he was planning how to spend the extra funds.

You seam pretty sure you know what Abbott will do....Are you Tony Abbott???

I agree Abbott will do nothing to reduce Australia's carbon output and to tell you truth I would prefer that to his direct action policy which will cost billions and is the most expensive way to reduce emissions.....It will also cost the budget billions once he scraps the carbon tax!!!

Jobs are going off shore because of the high Australian dollar and high manufacturing costs which have nothing to do with the carbon tax or an ETS but you would either know that you are a liar or you are stupid!!!

I agree Abbott will probably bring in an industrial relations policy but I doubt it will be as ruthless as work choices and will have a no disadvantage test this time one would think!!!

I agree he will try to destroy the unions reducing wages and conditions for Australian workers and cause industrial action in the process!!!

Abbott will try to reopen Nauru but might find it difficult and Indonesia have already said the WILL NOT accept any boats turned back from Australia so relations will not improve and will in fact get worse as Abbott will also cut foreign aid to Indonesia as he has already stated!!!

He will dump the NBN.....Something Australia needs and should have to provide revenue for the future!!!

He will dump the mining tax.....Something Australia needs and should have to provide revenue for the future!!!

He will introduce an inequitable paid maternity leave scheme that will cost business billions and then when the budget returns to surplus taxpayers will be paying for it!!!

He will reinstate the health care bonus which will cost the budget billions!!!

He will provide high end tax cuts without raising taxes that will cost the budget billions!!!

How will Abbott pay for all his promises and keep taxes down whilst paying off debt.....He is either a bullshit artist or a liar.....My guess is he is both!!!

Yes they could be lower if we didn't need to collect them and then give a portion back to people who don't need it.

If we want lower taxes we're going to have to dump the middle and upper-class welfare.

HERE'S something I think we can all agree on (but for different reasons): rich people shouldn't get government assistance. For the bleeding-heart lefties out there, this notion probably appeals in a fairness sense and means more money to splash on the truly needy. For liberals (small-''l'', anyway) and economic rationalists it appeals to their desire to minimise the government's intrusion into the economy. After all, every dollar less spent is a dollar less that has to be raised in taxes.

I think you are over-playing the hand of the PM there Phil.
The tax system/structure is decided over a long period of time in reviews and tax workbooks.

Look how long the Henry Review took and in the end the Labor Government totally copped out and implemented less than 5% of it.

The civil servants decide the tax system - the PM makes some noise and thats about it.

I spent a fair time looking through the system from an FBT, tax offset, credit allowances and rebates scenario and there are still loads of avenues if you are resolute enough and have the good sense to think ahead.

I think I paid something like 6% in the end in AUS?

Here is one I hadn't thought of though Phil -

My dad was telling me the other month about an old work colleague - this guy was one of the chief captains at British Airways when he retired so he would have a fair few dollars in the bank.

He had a 8 bedroom house built out in the country.
After purchasing the place, he was able to avoid over $200,000 in taxes/stamp duty because it was noted as a "barn dwelling" which comes under Farming legislation.

Basically there was a tiny barn keeping about 5 bales of hay.
This guy kept the barn, adjoined it to the 8 bedroom house that was then built and was able to denote the whole thing as a barn because it has no adjoining wall between the two properties.

I agree....however if Tony Abbott becomes PM you can guarantee they will become holes big enough to drive a truck through.....The economy cannot afford Tony Abbott!!!

Tony Abbott will reduce measures to collect revenue that will have little impact on most Australian's but will have a devastating impact on budget revenue whilst offering very generous hand outs to those who do not need it.....Abbott is not about tax reform he is about populist bullshit that will provide nothing of value for the future or the majority of Australian's.....The NBN for a start is a great policy that I do not want to see dumped....Abbott is a fools fool!!!

Genius or what?

The politicians in the UK mostly conservative got a hammering for their extravagant tax dodging prowess.....It shows a lack of integrity to some extent when you condemn tax concessions to low income earners whilst cheating a corrupt system that is under your control to fix if you have the inclination and moral fortitude.....I think these people deserve the contempt and disgust of the public they pretend to serve.....Prison would be to good for some of them IMO!!!

If Abbott becomes PM what will he do???

Scrap the carbon tax.....
The carbon tax will have little affect on individuals or companies but will have a huge bearing on revenue.....Direct action is expensive and ineffective and must be paid for out of consolidated revenue!!!

The impact of the carbon tax is being felt already, with Qantas increasing airfares to cover the increased cost of aviation fuel. There are job losses by the thousands across the country due (in part) to the carbon tax.

Scrap the mining tax.....
The mining tax will have no affect on mining investment or the consumer but it will have a huge bearing on revenue and reduce the Governments ability to protect industries and build the foundations for future growth!!!

Already we are seeing a number of multi-billion dollar projects being either put on hold or scrapped altogether due to the mining tax. Why invest in Australia if you're going to be taxed to the hilt?

Reintroduce Nauru and expensive off shore processing whilst turning back the boats at sea.....
The policy of persecution and trying to turn boats back might have an affect on people seeking asylum in Australia however this will no doubt send these people somewhere else so it is no longer our problem.....Further eroding our relationship with Indonesia who have already rejected the policy from Abbott....No solution to the plight of refugees but Abbott can keep desperate people from seeking any assistance from Australia.....Hardly something to be proud of!!!

This would be a non-issue if Rudd had left the Pacific Solution alone. It worked extremely well and no one died trying to come here over a very treacherous stretch of ocean.

You sound like corporate_nutjob!!!

Restoring the health care rebate.....
This will be expensive and cost the budget billions that will increase over time adding nothing to the public system.....The rebate does not decrease the amount of sick people of provide more doctors and nurses it just makes private health funds richer!!!

Labor's changes should never have been allowed in the first place, so the blame for the cost of restoring the health care rebate is entirely Labors. The changes made by Labor will increase pressure on an already desperate public health system that is lacking adequate funding.

Provide tax cuts for all Australian's including millionaires without raising any taxes.....
Further eroding budget revenue and the Governments ability to invest for the future and fund services.....Tax cuts without a dividend or gain in productivity.....worthless vote buying!!!

God forbid he should lower taxes and not increase them!

Abbott will dump the NBN.....
Technology that will pay for itself and provide revenue for many decades to come.....Telecommunications will still have to be replaced due to the aging copper network however without the NBN we can expect a far inferior service and little for the country where profits are not worth the time of the private sector!!!

The "technology that will pay for itself" as you put it, is becoming more expensive by the day. It's a multi-billion dollar white elephant and another example of the ALP meddling in areas of business that it should have learnt to keep out of by now.

If that is a veiled reference to WorkChoices, he has already said that policy went too far and that he would like to see changes made that go toward WC but not nearly as far in that direction. Labor's changes went much too far in the opposite direction to WC.

The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealised past.

Abbott will follow the fine tradition set by the conservative governments that have taken power around the country from inept labor governments and do nothing, achieve nothing, become stagnant and dull, aimlessly floating to policies of the past because they have none. Labor are suffering from infighting but conservative politics could not even manage that they are so apathetic to the need for change.

Abbott will abandon the wasteful green schemes saving tax payers billions.

Phill, i appreciate your position toward what Abbott stands for, but you are missing the most important part here. Abbott has written all these changes into history when he made his speech at the beginning of the year. He identified just about anything of any importance as either aspirational or cannot happen till the budget is in surplus. In other words he promises nothing, will deliver nothing and has no idea what he is doing. The good old core and non-core promises.

Restoring the health care rebate.....
The public health system needs more funding and providing billions of taxpayer funds to the private health insurance industry does not provide one more nurse doctor or hospital.....People will not drop out of private health funds because they will be hit with a levy and it will cost more to rejoin.....The scare mongering is bullshit and the health rebate is unsustainable without means testing!!!

Provide tax cuts for all Australian's including millionaires without raising any taxes.....
Howard's tax cuts already placed the budget in structural deficit with no increase in productivity or household wealth.....People increased debt under Howard and services and spending on infrastructure where cut to pay for the election bribes to win elections not provide for future growth!!!

Scrap the carbon tax.....

The impact of the carbon tax is being felt already, with Qantas increasing airfares to cover the increased cost of aviation fuel. There are job losses by the thousands across the country due (in part) to the carbon tax.

Scrap the mining tax.....

Already we are seeing a number of multi-billion dollar projects being either put on hold or scrapped altogether due to the mining tax. Why invest in Australia if you're going to be taxed to the hilt?

Reintroduce Nauru and expensive off shore processing whilst turning back the boats at sea.....

This would be a non-issue if Rudd had left the Pacific Solution alone. It worked extremely well and no one died trying to come here over a very treacherous stretch of ocean.

Introduce a very generous paid maternity scheme.....

You sound like corporate_nutjob!!!

Restoring the health care rebate.....

God forbid he should lower taxes and not increase them!

Abbott will dump the NBN.....

The "technology that will pay for itself" as you put it, is becoming more expensive by the day. It's a multi-billion dollar white elephant and another example of the ALP meddling in areas of business that it should have learnt to keep out of by now.

Abbott has revealed he wants to return to the policies of the Howard Government despite the fact the world has changed since the days of high end tax cuts and pork barreling.....

You've got a weird way of looking at the world. Armchair_Politician, 2012

Scrap the carbon tax.....
The increased cost in Aviation fuel is due to the high Australian dollar not the carbon tax that has not been introduced yet....The job loses are in the international aircraft maintenance division that is not subject to the carbon tax.....Seats on domestic flights will rise by a couple of dollars each which is the only impact the carbon tax will have on QANTAS!!!

Scrap the mining tax.....
Investment in mining has never been higher and even the boss of BHP Billiton Marius Kloppers has said the mining tax will not affect their operations.....The mining tax is very profitable and all Australian's should benefit from the exploitation of our mineral wealth!!!

Reintroduce Nauru and expensive off shore processing whilst turning back the boats at sea.....
The decision by the high court also affects Nauru so its implementation is not guaranteed and many people died during the Howard years trying to get to Australia by boat.....Google SIEV X and see how Howard let these people die!!!

Introduce a very generous paid maternity scheme.....
Your response hardly deserves an answer and shows you cannot defend this inequitable scheme.....I am not surprised as it is total rubbish the rewards greed!!!

Abbott will dump the NBN.....
State of the art telecommunications is not a white elephant it is required for the high speed technology that is required to do business.....Without government investment it will not not happen and Australia will have lost the opportunity to invest in our modern future and provide a revenue stream for decades to come!!!

Abbott has revealed he wants to return to the policies of the Howard Government despite the fact the world has changed since the days of high end tax cuts and pork barreling.....
Yes workchoices is on the agenda and the prospect of lower productivity and more industrial action.....Terms of trade have increased under Labor....interest rates are lower and inflation is under control.....Abbott will destroy all that if he becomes PM with his economy destroying policies!!!

The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealised past.
Robertson Davies, "A Voice from the Attic", 1960

You have no idea.....Tony Abbott is insular from world events and thinks Australia can avoid what happens in the rest of the world.....He is a danger to the Australian people and the future of the nation.....He is offering nothing but aspiration to tear everything apart that will provide growth and security for the future!!!

Rubbish.....where do you get your lack of information???

NBN Facts.....
On 7 April 2009, the government initially committed to investing up to $43 billion in the NBN.

On 20 December 2010, NBN Co Limited’s (NBN Co) Corporate Plan confirmed the total capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $35.9 billion, less than the government’s original $43 billion estimate. The government expects to contribute $27.5 billion in equity for the rollout.

NBN Co’s Corporate Plan confirms that the NBN will provide all Australians with world-class broadband on a financially viable basis at affordable prices.

All Australians will benefit from the rollout of the National Broadband Network, either directly or indirectly. High-speed broadband is essential for Australia’s economy, future growth and international competitiveness. The NBN will improve access to business and job opportunities, health, education and government services and it will allow Australians to more easily share common interests and keep in touch, regardless of location.

People living in regional, rural and remote areas will have improved access to specialists and doctors without having to travel long distances. Students will have opportunities to expand their learning through access to education and research through material transmitted through the internet in real-time. Businesses with an online presence will become more competitive in a globally connected world.

The NBN is the biggest reform in telecommunications ever because it delivers separation between the infrastructure provider and retail services providers. This means better and fairer infrastructure access for retail services providers, greater retail competition and better services for families and businesses.

Online engagement can also reduce feelings of isolation and enhance family relationships.    It can be of particular value to families or family members who are geographically isolated or live far from home.

Allen Consulting estimates that a 10 per cent increase in Australians using the internet will lead to an increase of 0.44 per cent to national GDP. In addition, if the number of Australian households connected to the internet increased by 10 per cent, it would provide gains to households of $2.4 billion per annum in terms of consumer surplus.

The Australian Government has committed that, by 2020, Australia will rank in the top five nations in the OECD in the portion of households that connect to broadband at home.Additional benefits include:

Education: High-speed broadband, delivered to every Australian household, has the potential to extend the reach, availability and quality of education services, regardless of location. The NBN’s greater capacity will allow for more immersive online interactions, resulting in higher quality outcomes for students. The Australian Government has committed that, by 2020, all schools, TAFEs, universities and higher education institutions will have the connectivity to extend access to online learning resources to the home and the facilities to offer students, who cannot access specialist classes via traditional means, the opportunity for online virtual classes.

Health: Australia’s health system is facing increased pressure due to our ageing population, increased rates of chronic disease and health workforce challenges. The NBN will enable homes, doctors’ surgeries, pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, aged care facilities and allied health professionals to connect to affordable, reliable, high-speed and high capacity broadband. This represents a major opportunity to improve the way healthcare is delivered in Australia. The Australian Government has committed that, by 2020, 20 per cent of medical consultations will use electronic or telehealth capabilities – meaning providers will be able to diagnose, monitor and provide ongoing care to patients remotely; saving lives, time and money for Australians, and particularly those who currently have to travel to receive healthcare.

Point 1
Under a Coalition government GDP grew by 100% so your point about the 0.44% of GDP is negligible

Point 2
$2.4B "surplus" to consumers using the NBN as a result? That's about $2.10/week for those using the NBN. What's the point?

The Australian Government has committed that, by 2020, 20 per cent of medical consultations will use electronic or telehealth capabilities – meaning providers will be able to diagnose, monitor and provide ongoing care to patients remotely; saving lives, time and money for Australians, and particularly those who currently have to travel to receive healthcare.

http://www.nbn.gov.au/frequently-asked-questions/

I dont know which part of that you think provided a repudiation of my post. apart from the fact that it comes from nothing more than an FAQ on the NBN site, it has zero costing information. analysts have repeatedly warned that the chance of the NBN breaking even is small, since that target is dependent on outrageously optimistic predictions of takeup rates and costs of funds. With current takeup rates bordering on humiliating, the entire premise is ludicrsou. It is almost as ludicrous as predicting that a 10% increase in internet use is going to increase GDP. That 10% increase is SOLELY from private hosueholds. business is already using the internet.

there is a lot about the NBN's finances that are dodgy. within one month of the legislation being passed they were granted an extra 2 years to finishe the job. after their first year that are already well behind schedul and with takeup rates so low as to be barely measurable. And like the vast part of the population, Im super-excited about getting a landline (which this house has had for 60 years) and a 12Mbps internet (which Ive had for 10 years) all for a per household cost of just $12,000 tax payer dollars.

20 February, 2012 | Media Release Any further changes to workplace laws should improve job security, rights and protections for the millions of people in insecure work, not hand more power to employers.   ;)

In its submission to the review of the Fair Work Act, the ACTU will propose reforms within the framework of the existing legislation to improve the rights to collective bargaining and the safety net for insecure workers.

The ACTU will release its submission today, along with research that shows its proposals are in tune with the majority of Australians and that the campaign by employer groups against workers is dramatically out of touch with public sentiment.   :(

The survey of more than 2000 people found that 57% believe that any new workplace laws should aim to give employees more reliable work. Just 14% said new laws were needed to give businesses greater flexibility in how they employ people.   :-?

Even among Liberal voters, twice as many were in favour of laws to help workers as supported laws that suited employers (49% to 24%).

“There is no public mood to hand over increased power to employers, but more importantly, there is no credible evidence or rationale in the way the Fair Work Act is operating to justify this either,” said ACTU Secretary Jeff Lawrence.

“Our submission will clearly demonstrate that the contrary to the myths being perpetrated by employers, the Fair Work Act has been irrefutably good for workers and good for the economy.

“The facts show that a record number of collective agreements are being made, industrial disputes are down, the economy is growing at a steady pace, unemployment and inflation are low, and wage growth is solid and sustainable. Profits are close to all-time record highs, while wages’ share of national income is at a 40-year low, so business has nothing to complain about.

“This review is important because it will expose the inaccurate and uninformed statements that are made every day by highly-paid and out-of-touch business leaders such as Westpac CEO Gail Kelly that bear no relation to reality.

“Employer criticism of the Fair Work Act is barely disguised lust for a return to a WorkChoices system. Employers and their fellow travellers in the Liberal Party need to stop living in the past.   :(

“In the last couple of days, we have seen former Liberal Premier Jeff Kennett articulate the employer-Liberal agenda with a call to abolish penalty rates. This would result in a is a significant reduction in the take-home pay of workers in the hospitality, retail and service sectors. We're talking about people on $17 an hour who rely on penalty rates as a significant part of their income."   ;)

“The future of Australia’s workplace system is in collective bargaining and a co-operative approach; slash-and-burn, bully boy tactics like those of Qantas need to be stopped.

“If any changes are needed to the Fair Work Act, they should start with strengthening the bargaining system, with an activist role for Fair Work Australia where employers only pay lip service to the notion of collective bargaining and never have any intention of reaching agreement.

“The protections and entitlements of the 40% of Australians in insecure jobs as casuals, contractors or labour hire workers must be improved, and workers should have the right to bargain about job security. Secure jobs that pay decent wages and have workplace rights can be built on our economic strengths.”

Mr Lawrence said unions shared the goal of lifting Australia’s rate of productivity growth, but warned that giving more power to employers to fire workers or cut pay and conditions would not lead to better productivity.   :(

“Productivity improvements come from the high road of greater levels of trust and co-operation between workers and employers, and from investment in skills, technology, infrastructure and innovation,” Mr Lawrence said.

Clanky,
This is a Political Board and as such there is usually going to be a fair amount of argy bargy & name calling.

That said, I would suggest the best way to handle such people, is to give back, as good as you get, within reason!

If the usual argy bargy & name calling, goes beyond being reasonable then PM a Moderator (for member boards), a Global Moderator or an Administrator, who will address the issue, if it does in fact go beyong normal, reasoable limits!

As for Longweakend, I wouldn't get too concerned about him, his words reflect who he is -
Idiot, Moron etc!!!

So, if you are still viewing, I would like to see you back on these boards & contributing!

Btw, as administrators, we can not view all posts, so once you reach your 12 posts, you can use the PM
to make contact.

Sorry to see that but perhaps political forums aren't for you.
Try the philosophy board, deep thoughts & ideas discussed in a congenial manner.
The politics board here is just like QT with all the antics & bullying, one must have a thick skin & sharp mind with a good grasp of history to get on ;)

The key to politics forums is they follow a process -

1) One set of people have one set of opinions and there are those who disagree.

2) They both then disagree and sling mud at each other, both from their political and personal viewpoint.

3) Then after about 3 days of mud slinging, everybody realizes that I was right all along.

Allen Consulting estimates that a 10 per cent increase in Australians using the internet will lead to an increase of 0.44 per cent to national GDP. In addition, if the number of Australian households connected to the internet increased by 10 per cent, it would provide gains to households of $2.4 billion per annum in terms of consumer surplus.

http://www.nbn.gov.au/frequently-asked-questions/

Point 1
Under a Coalition government GDP grew by 100% so your point about the 0.44% of GDP is negligible

Point 2
$2.4B "surplus" to consumers using the NBN as a result? That's about $2.10/week for those using the NBN. What's the point?

Do you have anything to support this claim Macaa.....100%.....bullshit!!! A simple check of the GDP figure in in 1997 and then in 2007 will give you the result.

Do you have anything to support your claim Macca.....2.4 billion is revenue!!! I am quoting from your article - just rephrased it in a weekly context

part of the stupidty of the 'higher taxes for the rich' calss by some is that all that will happen is that they will demand and receive higher wages in compensation. Businesses will increase prices to compensate and EVERYONE will get to pay for it.  For business, wages and taxes are just a cost to be factored in. if they increase, the business will increase prices to compensate. they ALL will. this is the fundamental reason why high taxes are bad, because they increase the prices of everything and therefore reduced demand and slow or retard an economy.

Tony will have you earning your keep in no time once he's elected.
And you can feel good in the knowledge that you are contributing to society by being gainfully employed.
It's tough love, but you'll thank him one day. 8-)

Not contributing to society...being forced to work for the Government as a casual labourer - not contributing to society - haveing the productive value of my labour stolen by Red Communist Parasites...But no he wont have me doing that - because - I alone am sovereign over my will... 8-)

That would have to be the most uninformed piece of crap I have read today.

Hardly.  While I am not saying that exploitation of the disadvantaged in society does not occur under Communist rule (is a dictatorship true Communism in anything but name anyway and therefore not really Communist? - but I digress) it is more a characteristic of unrestrained Capitalism and the Right.

I don't think you know what Communism is....

Either you don't know what communism is or you are just playing semantics, Communism is just one of many terms Government uses for its ideology to impose its dictatorship on the people.  Its all the same thing.  The Government wants to force Disabled people into casual labour servitude for it so they can steal the productive value of the labour from them and make their lives insecure and destabilized. 8-)

And how is the government doing this?
There are plenty of people with disabilities who have full time employment.

The Red Communist Government has abolished Job security and wants to abolish social security for disabled people and force them into casual servitude in unstable conditions so they can steal the productive value of their labour for corporate wealthfare - aint gonna happen...no disabled person or any worker should be forced to work casual for the Government.    Full time secure employment for all workers who want it or bugger off....we don't wanna hear it. 8-)

The Government has no right to abolish job security and force workers into unstable insecure casual work - they should be overthrown for this in a revolution.... 8-)

Perhaps you could do some work on a computer doing date entry of something mate.....You are not completely useless and would gain some self esteem from doing something to support yourself.....I fail to see why you would want to sit in front of a computer complaining about being useless when you can obviously contribute to society in some way!!!

Nobody gains self esteem, dignity or pride in their work being forced to work as a casual for the Government in menial insecure temporary jobs....Dignity and pride is not the purpose of it. 8-)

Also, contributing to society though the dignity of full time employment with conditions and penalties is one thing - being forced to work casual jobs for the government is not contributing to society, it is having the productive value of your labour exploited and stolen by the Red Communist Government for the purposes of corporate wealthfare redistribution....no dignity about it, its strait out theft. 8-)

So you are revolting?

But do you really expect me to believe that someone who comes out with the following comments knows what he is talking about?

No, I am serious - if they abolish Job security and force people to work as casuals for the Government, they should be overthrown by a Revolution - I am not being facetious, I genuinely mean it.  If the Government forces people into menial casual labour and abolishes job security, then a revolution to overthrow that Red Communist dictatorship is the appropriate course -0 who knows what they might justify when "productivity" is their overriding god and sense of entitlement... 8-)

I'm assuming you are referring to the governments 'Work for the Dole' scheme.
Nothing to stop you getting a full time position though.

There is if the Government has deliberately undermined and abolished job security...if they try to force people to work in sub-human, unstable, uncivilized, insecure conditions for the Government then there should be a revolution to effect full regime change and a change in economic philosophy and policy. 8-)
